I stood in the doorway, watching as everyone said their goodbyes to Dadi. Dadi's eyes were misty as she hugged each of us tightly, her hands patting our backs.
As I waited for my turn, I couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness. I was going to miss Dadi's warm smile and her comforting presence.
Finally, it was my turn. Dadi enveloped me in a tight hug, her voice whispering in my ear. "Nitika, beta, take care of yourself. And don't forget to eat well."
I smiled, feeling a lump form in my throat. "I will, Dadi. Don't worry."
As I pulled back, I saw Avyaan watching me, a soft expression on his face. I felt a flutter in my chest, and quickly looked away, trying to compose myself.
We all filed out of the house, our suitcases and bags in tow, and made our way to the waiting bus. As we settled into our seats, I found myself sitting beside Avyaan, our thighs touching as we sat down.
As the bus rumbled on I looked outside the window and a game formed in my head to test how much Avyaan knows me....hmm
I turned to Avyaan, a grin spreading across my face. "Let's play a game," I said.
Avyaan raised an eyebrow, his expression curious. "What game?" he asked
I leaned in, my voice taking on a conspiratorial tone. "I'll ask you a few questions, and you'll answer them," I said, my eyes locked on his.
Avyaan's expression turned confident. "Okay, that's easy," he said, a smirk playing on his lips.
I raised an eyebrow, a sly smile spreading across my face. "But the questions will be about me," I said, my voice dripping with challenge. "So you have to answer correctly. Let's see how much you know me"
"I know everything about you baby, test me" He winked.
"Ohh really? So if you answer wrongly then you will be punished" I said.
Avyaan's smirk faltered, and he gulped down, his Adam's apple bobbing up and down. He nodded, his expression determined, but I could see a hint of nervousness in his eyes.
I smiled, feeling a thrill of excitement. This was going to be fun. I leaned back in my seat, my eyes never leaving Avyaan's face. The bus rumbled on, the scenery outside blurring together as we hurtled towards our destination. But I was focused on Avyaan, waiting to see how he would fare in this game.
"Okay, Avyaan, here's your first question," I said, my voice steady. "What's my favorite K-drama?"
Avyaan's expression turned thoughtful, his brow furrowing in concentration. He tapped his chin, his eyes gazing upwards as if searching for the answer.
I watched him, a smile playing on my lips. I had a feeling he wasn't going to get this one right.
After a few moments of silence, Avyaan's eyes snapped back to mine. "Is it... 'Crash Landing on You'?" he asked, his voice hesitant.
I raised an eyebrow, impressed despite myself. "Yes! How did you know that?" I asked, my voice teasing.
Avyaan grinned, looking relieved. "I've seen you watching it on your phone," he said. "You were crying like crazy during the finale."
I laughed, feeling a flush rise to my cheeks. "Shut up," I said, playfully hitting him on the arm.
Avyaan chuckled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "I'm just glad I got it right," he said, his voice smug.
I rolled my eyes, smiling. "Okay, okay, you got one right," I said. "But let's see how you do on the next question."
"Okay, next question," I said, my voice steady. "What's my favorite song?"
