Isaac sat on the couch in his home, looking extremely content.
Tonight was one of those rare nights when it was just him and Teddy, like it used to be before he moved to Forks.
Whilst he really loved Rosalie, and the rest of the Cullen-Hale coven as well, sometimes it was healthy to have a bit of separation, especially in a relationship that's so new.
Even if he and Rosalie were soulmates and would be spending the rest of their lives together.
Spending time apart allows for them to maintain their individual identities, recharge, pursue personal interests, and come back to the relationship with a fresh perspective, ultimately strengthening the bond by reducing codependency and fostering better communication when they reunite.
This also allows Rosalie to go hunting and spend time with her siblings.
Plus Isaac and Teddy haven't had some alone time in about a month or two.
It was good to just have time to relax, cuddle, maybe even spend time in their wolf forms with a good cuddle here or there.
Teddy was now reaching that crucial stage in life where he was on the verge of walking and talking.
His teething stage has just finished last month and let me tell you, it wasn't a good month.
Luckily for Isaac, he basically lived with cold skinned vampires who could use their fingers to soothe his son's gums whilst he teethed, and they couldn't feel his little sharp teeth biting them seeing as they were like made of marble or something.
Teddy had grown quite a bit since they'd moved to Forks.
He was now a bit older than 9 months old, and soon Isaac would blink and be shocked to find out that his son is 11 and off to Hogwarts.
Isaac shook himself out of those depressing thoughts and focused on rocking Teddy to sleep, humming a little lullaby that his father had sung to him when he was 13 on the first night that he spent with him, saying it was a McKinnon family lullaby that was passed down from generation to generation.
How his mother has sung it to him every night since he'd been born, and how it was the only way he'd fall asleep at night back when their family was whole and alive.
It was something he hoped he could pass down to his son, and the rest of his children whenever he and Rosalie decided on that route in the future.
As Teddy feel asleep, Isaac walked into his room and put his phone on the charger, not that he used it often, seeing as he much preferred face to face conversations, something which wouldn't happen through a screen as of yet.
Isaac took a shower, threw on some sweat pants and then laid in his bed, wondering what his future could possibly look like?
He drifted off to sleep, a content smile on his face as his last thoughts for the night were of mini Rosalie's running around playfully flinging prank spells against one another like he and Dora used to do as children before his aunt Andi scolded them.
Though Isaac believes that she secretly was fond of their little prank fights seeing as he could've sworn it was her who pranked his uncle Ted by turning all his clothes pink for a whole week (and now spell could get the dye out permanent until the week was up) so his uncle walked around looking like a piece of cotton candy for a whole week and he could do nothing about it.
Ah, those were the simpler times, when the war wasn't prominent in people's lives, and when everyone thought that they were still safe.
...
Isaac was now at the Cullen-Hale coven house once again, he was sat on the floor next to Teddy's play mat, the little boy was playing with his wolf plushie, and had his and Rosalie's undivided attention.
Today there wasn't much going on, besides school that is.
Isaac had chosen to pull out of muggle school, seeing as he technically already graduated school, and that degree did count as a high school diploma in the muggle world, Isaac just flashed it at the school board and Chief Swan, and he was let out of school quite easily.
And thank Merlin for that, Isaac had found muggle school to be boring, the only reason worth going is maybe the teenage gossip and rumor mill that seemed to run through the school and small town quite quickly.
Though from what he'd heard from Jasper, everyone at school thought he'd dropped out of school and eloped with Rosalie because he'd gotten her pregnant or something.
Which kinda pissed him off. He wasn't someone who would just elope. Rosalie deserved far better than that, he also wasn't someone to just get someone pregnant without their consent either.
Accidental pregnancies were not something that happened in the Black Family. It was seen as a dishonor on the house and family name if something like that was ever discovered.
No, he would marry Rosalie when the time was right, and he'd have children with her when she felt it was time.
Though he did silently admit that he wouldn't be opposed if she wanted kids so soon after marriage, he didn't want a huge age gap between his first two kids and seeing as Teddy would reach the toddler stage as the second baby is born, it seemed like a reasonable age gap to Isaac.
Now between his second and third children, they could have as much as a 5-7 year age gap and he wouldn't mind.
They had eternity to decide when they wanted marriage and children, all of that would be left up to Rosalie.
He didn't want to pressure her, even if he was ready for some of those things, she may not be.
And that was okay.
Maybe in the distant future he would have to sit down and ask her what all she wanted in their lifetime and when she could possibly want it.
But for now, Isaac was content with his life.
And he hoped that if would stay that way.
Hey everyone, sorry for the long wait and the shorter chapter, but this past month has been a pretty long one, with the seasonal sickness storming through my household like a bull in a china store, we've been passing the flu back in forth for what seems like ages.
That and I had a pretty nasty fall and I'm pretty sure I dislodged some of my hardware in my bad leg, so that's not good, but enough about me, how was everyone's holiday season?
Did you have a good Christmas/ Hanukkah/Yule/Kwanza/Holiday?
