Knock woke up with the worst headache of his life. Getting drunk for a moment of happiness is not worth the after effects. He groaned which he regretted when his head started to pound harder. He heard his door open and he wished whoever it was to go away. They didn't. Instead, they walked to his side of the bed and set something on his bedside table. He was too curious to not lift his head to see what it is. He groaned as he did but found out it was a glass of water and two big looking pills.
"Good morning" Korn said softly.
"My head" he said.
"I got you some strong and fast working pain killers and some water. I have breakfast waiting for you on the stove." He said. Korn helped him sit up before he could take the medicine. He noticed right away from his stance and how tense it was that something was wrong.
"What's wrong?" He asked. His mind was clearing as his worry spiked.
"I have been summoned back to the demon realm to deal with some rising conflict after Tharn gave land belonging to the Dragonnet clan to the Yetis." He said. "The Dragonnet Clan are the smallest clan not only in members but in actual size. They are no match for the Yetis and were forced to abandon their homes and flee."
"Can he do that?" Knock asked. "I mean this sounds unfair and cruel."
"No he can't and it will be addressed in the upcoming meeting but right now I have to go calm down the other clans and make sure the Dragonnet Clan are homed with the nearest clan."
"Why isn't your father handling this?" He asked. "Isn't it his job to handle these kinds of things?"
"He's handling the aftermath of the eviction of the Knuckers from their land ordered by the King."
"It seems like Tharn is crossing the line and needs to be told off." He said.
"I agree, he will answer for his crimes."
"How long will you be gone? Knock asked.
"In human time it will be two weeks and in the demon realm it will be a month."
"A month!?!" He said the flinch at his pain that was receding every few seconds.
"Time moves differently in the demon realm." He said. "Don't worry, I'll have the guys or Disco come check on you."
"Are you going to be okay?" He asked. His thoughts went back to the day that skank touched him and his reaction to it. Korn must have read his thoughts when he replied.
"No one would dare touch me like that. They all know better than that." He said. "I'm more worried about you."
"Why?" He asked.
"It's the first time that we have been away from each other for more than a few days."
"You make it sound like I'm dependent on you to breathe." He said. "Don't worry I'll be fine."
"Okay then" he said. Knock swore he saw a look of hurt cross his face and he immediately felt like a dick.
"Korn, I didn't mean-"
"I have to get going" he said before snapping his fingers.
"Korn, wait I-" he said but Korn stepped through the portal before it closed. Knock groaned and fell back onto the bed, feeling like a total asshole. He knew that Korn had feelings for him but he denied them fiercely. It was getting hard to ignore the more time they spent together. Something felt like it was going to change and he wasn't sure he was going to like it.
After his headache he got up and headed out to the kitchen in his boxers. Korn had made him eggs, bacon and pancakes and they were still warm. He got out a coffee cup and poured himself some premade coffee before he took his plate and went over to the kitchen island and sat down to eat.
