"How does it feel to be retired?" Knock asked as he set his plate down across from Kris's and then sat down.
"Amazing, I never knew how badly I wanted to retire until I retired." He said making Knock chuckle.
"So what do you plan to do now?" He asked.
"My husband and I once talked about moving to a smaller place once Korn took over. There is a cottage on the mountain just below the castle that I am thinking of renovating."
"Do you need any help with it?" He asked.
"I would love the help." He said.
"It would keep me busy while Korn is handling business."
"Is this your way of saying you don't want to join Korn as King?" He asked.
"That's not what I am saying." He said picking up his glass of water to take a sip.
"Good, if you didn't want to then maybe you and Korn can start giving me grandbabies." He said making Knock choke on his drink. Kris laughed and stood to lean over and pat him on the back.
"I think it's a little early for babies." Knock said once he got his coughing under control.
"I'm not getting any younger and would like to see my grandchildren before I die." He said.
"Why not go bug Korn's sister about grandbabies?"
"You think I don't? Since we got back in contact I have but those two are stubborn." He said.
"Korn and I aren't having kids for a while."
"We will see" he said making Knock narrow his eyes and point the end of his fork at him.
"Listen Mister, Korn and I will have a child when we are ready to have a child, not because you want one."
"Knowing my son, he'll have you pregnant within the month." He said making Knock lose his appetite.
"Okay, I'm officially done with this conversation. In fact, I'm leaving so enjoy your dinner." He said rising from his chair.
"Wait a minute, sit back down" he said. "I apologize for that."
"You are a sick old man that needs a hobby other than trying to get his children to procreate." He said sitting back down.
"I just want my children to be happy...that includes you."
"I am happy with the way things are right now."
"Fine" he said. They started talking about other things while they ate. After that they took a late afternoon walk through the garden before bed. When he got back to his room Korn wasn't there. As he got ready for bed, he thought about what happened these past two days. He had been keeping himself busy trying to figure out how to tell Korn that he loved him too. He just couldn't find the right words. He would get an idea and then two minutes later he would discard it for being lame.
Korn's confession was so beautiful and heartfelt and he wanted his confession to be just the same. He wouldn't say he was a romantic guy. He didn't always say the right thing but for this one moment in his life he wanted to say the right thing. He had asked Kris for advice on what was the right way to confess and he just said to not worry about saying the right thing but to just say what was in his heart. Easy for him to say. He has the heart of a romantic.
He sat down on the bed in a tank top and shorts and sighed. He loved this man and he wanted to marry this man and in the future, have a child with him. He just wanted to say the right thing and not make a complete fool of himself. He stood on shaky legs and made his way to the door. He was just going to tell him. He was done second guessing himself. He wasn't that type of guy nor would Korn want him to be anyone but himself.
