Hyuck: "Jaemin, I am FREAKING OUT!"
The purple-haired paced his room like a caged storm, getting ready to meet Mark’s parents.
Jaemin: "Hyuck… honey… calm down. You look amazing, and they’re going to love you. Even if not right away, they’ll come around. I promise."
Hyuck: "I just don’t want to mess this up… I want them to like me."
Jaemin (grinning): "Since when did Lee Donghyuck, son of Maleficent, care what people think? Huh? Lost your edge? You know Mark’s totally smitten with you—he’d move mountains for you. My mom had her battles too—she wanted to marry my dad, who wasn’t a prince. She fought with her father until he gave in... despite being arranged to marry Jafar. Point is, you don’t have to worry about his parents. As long as Mark’s with you, everything will be okay. Alright, sweetie?"
Hyuck looked at Jaemin with genuine admiration, a soft smile tugging at his lips.
Hyuck: "I’m so proud of Jeno for snagging such an angel. If I wasn’t in love with Mark, I’d probably be trying to get with you."
They both laughed, but a sudden knock sliced through their moment.
They glanced at the clock; Hyuck’s face instantly flickered into panic mode.
Jaemin: "Win them over, tiger." He opened the door wide.
There stood the prince, eyes locked on the purple-haired boy, his smile impossible to hide.
Mark: "You look… majestic." He breathed out, making Hyuck blush fiercely.
Mark stepped inside, greeted Jaemin, then gently lifted his right arm, inviting Hyuck to take hold of his forearm.
Hyuck: "Love you, Jaeminie. Tell Jeno to be careful," he teased, winking as they left.
---
The two walked in comfortable silence, heads turning as whispers followed—villain kid with the soon-to-be king, both looking like full-course meals, eyes full of stars for each other, shy and soft and smitten.
Mark (teasing): "What was that about? ‘Love you Jaeminie’? Am I a joke to you?"
Hyuck blinked, missing the teasing tone entirely.
Hyuck: "No! You’re not! He’s just so nice, and he stayed with me while I was freaking out before you came—oh. Oh, how funny of you." He stopped mid-sentence, catching Mark nearly crying from suppressed laughter.
Mark: "I’m sorry, but I thought you’d catch that teasing sooner. You’re just really adorable. You were freaking out? You? What about?"
They reached their first stop, the gazebo where their first date was arranged, and sat down.
Hyuck (quietly): "I was just worried if your parents would like me… I want them to like me."
Mark’s eyes softened with a coo.
Mark: "You’re really adorable, you know that? I didn’t expect you to care about that... Actually, one of the first things that caught my eye was how you don’t care what people think. You talk loud and proud, dance while you walk, sing randomly, make faces, and if you’re not interested, you just tune out. So hearing you hope my parents like you? It’s sweet—but it’s not what I want."
He reached over, took Hyuck’s hand in his.
Mark: "I want you to be who you are. Show them the person I fell in love with—your true self. I’m here, right beside you. I’ve got your back. Whatever happens, you’ll do it perfectly. I hope you spill food on that suit. I hope you get it smeared on your face. I hope you trip over something—preferably falling right on me. But mostly, I want them to see you’re normal, you’re human, you’re clumsy and cute and absolutely endearing. I want them to see how I look at you, and how you look at me. And if my parents don’t like you? I really don’t care. None of it matters. Because nothing will change what I feel for you."
