The night ended perfectly, with her in my arms. It was almost 4:20 a.m., and we knew it was time to leave. We definitely didn't want her family or anyone else to find out about us.
Everything tonight had gone just as planned. I had arranged everything but kept it simple because I knew she liked silence. Just the two of us, no distractions. A quiet, beautiful date.
Her head was still resting on my shoulder as she watched Veer-Zaara, completely lost in the movie. Meanwhile, I was watching her.
'My poor boy at least focused on the movie,' my brain teased me.
Shut up brain.
As the movie neared its end, her eyes filled with tears. A single tear slipped down her cheek, and I gently wiped it away. Instead of pulling back, she snuggled into me even more.
I didn't say anything, and she remained glued to the screen. Even after the movie ended, she didn't move.
Then, she pulled the blanket tighter around herself, and I realized why-the window was open, and the cold air from the rain was making her shiver. I quickly adjusted the blanket around her shoulders. But instead of moving away, she nestled even closer.
And then, her head rested on my chest.
'Error. Looks like system overload inside the Vihaan Raichand's body,' my brain dramatically muttered.
My heart started racing like crazy.
She placed her hand on my chest and whispered in low voice, "Your heart is beating fast."
Act casual, Vihaan. Stay calm.
I cleared my throat.
"It's because of the cold. I'm shivering," I said, pretending to be normal.
Nice try.
She chuckled softly, then-out of nowhere-started tracing her fingers along my jaw.
'Vihu baby, just breathe normally. Don't act weird,' my brain remind me, trying to calm my senses.
The hell-I'm not breathing at all.
Her touch was featherlight, but it sent a storm through my body. A shiver ran down my spine as her fingers moved down my jaw, trailing toward my neck. I sucked in a deep breath, closing my eyes. The gentleness of her touch was messing with my entire nervous system.
Then she realised something and started pulling away.
Why?
I slipped my hand around her waist and pulled her back.
"Where do you think you're going after pulling a stunt like this?" I smirked.
And just like that, the bold Ruh disappeared, and the shy one returned.
