TIME STAMP: PRESENT
Kai managed to find a plan - even though in some aspects it could be considered suicidal, she needed Lady Whispers and the whole world to believe that Valentina was long gone, so she found a way.
After leaving an anonymous tip on where she was with Valentina's body, Kai prepared the scenario quickly. There had been a fight, Valentina had a gun and Kai pulled the trigger out of rage - but not before she had completely beat the other woman up. At the time, none of the women knew that their plan could go so wrong, but as soon as Kai saw President Ross, she realized there were some aspects that she and Valentina didn't consider.
They thought it was the Police that was going to show up, but instead, President Ross and his entire army came to get her. Kai didn't know how the word got to them but in a few seconds, Sam, Bucky, and Sharon came crashing into the place - which complicated things a bit more.
Kai's whole body was covered in bruises as if there was an actual fight and as soon as Ross took a look at Valentina's body, he demanded that more than 2 guards held Kai down and put her to sleep. Kai pretended to fight back but the reality was that her powers were almost gone so it was all just an act. Although she didn't speak, she constantly tried to interlock her gaze with Bucky, so that he knew the truth - but he didn't look at her, as he was almost amazed by the brutality of everything.
"Buck," Sam whispered, putting a hand on his friend's shoulder. "I think Kai is trying to say something to you."
Bucky was astonished when he looked up and met Kai's gaze. She was getting the needle pierced through her neck when he caught a glimpse of her lips mimicking the word "alive". When her eyes closed, both Sam and Sharon had to hold Bucky back, otherwise, he'd fight those men and get Kai back into his arms, even if she was guilty of murdering Valentina.
While Ross, the guards, and other government members were discussing what to do with Kai, Bucky turned to Sam, anxiously. He didn't say anything at first but then he heard Ross demanding that Kai would be executed for treason in 2 days. Quietly but in an anxious rush, he dragged Sam and Sharon away from the bulding so they could talk freely but close enough to see where they would take his lover.
"What if she didn't do it?" Bucky whispered, switching gazes between Sam and Sharon.
"Bucky..." Sharon started but he didn't let her finish.
"When she looked at me, she said the word alive. I think she was talking about Valentina. She wouldn't do this. This is brutal, even for Kai who sometimes has a short temper."
"Buck, I know this is a lot to take in..."
"No, Sam, listen!" Bucky said louder than intended. "Ross just sentenced her to be killed, I will not stand by that even if she's guilty. I will save her with or without you."
"Are you 100% sure she didn't do it?" Sharon asked low.
"Honestly? No, but I don't care. Valentina has tortured us and her especially for so long that even if she snapped- I would still be by her side. I don't give a shit who will come after me. Yelena, Alexei, Ross, everyone can come. I will get her out before they even think of laying two fingers on her."
He was shaking and his mind kept echoing: I can't lose Katherine - I won't lose Katherine. I can't lose Katherine - I won't lose Katherine. I can't lose Katherine - I won't lose Katherine. After what seemed like an hour but was just a minute, a softer voice spoke behind the group.
"You might want to consider my help. I'm Luna, I'm sure you've heard of me." A teenager said smiling and Bucky's mouth opened when he realized that was the Luna Kai always mentioned. "I believe that we have the same goal, which is to protect Katherine." After a small nod from Bucky and his two confused friends, she went one. "But we're dealing with a lot, I must warn you. None of you are safe, especially not Katherine, who in a way or another, will lose this battle."
