Valentine’s Day has never been a big deal between them.
Wooyoung and San had a cute tradition—something simple yet meaningful, a way to show they cherished each other. Every year, they exchange small gifts, nothing overly romantic or extravagant. Just a box of chocolates, a handmade bracelet, or even a cup of hot coffee bought on a whim. It was comfortable. It was precious.
But this year, San wanted to do something more—something truly meaningful.
He had spent weeks contemplating, rewriting, discarding, and starting over, only to end up with something just as nerve-wracking—a collection of simple notes filled with unspoken feelings. A confession, neatly folded into words, tucked away where only Wooyoung would find them—if he looked closely enough.
As the evening sun cast long shadows on the pavement, San stood outside Wooyoung’s door, fingers curled around a small package wrapped carefully in paper covered with tiny purple hearts. His heart pounded in his chest, threatening to leap out of his throat.
'Will this be too much? What if Wooyoung just laughs it off? What if I embarrass myself?'
Before he could talk himself out of it, the door swung open.
“You’re late, Choi San!” Wooyoung teased, crossing his arms. “Were you debating whether I deserve a Valentine’s gift this year?”, He arched a brow, earning a playful eye roll from San.
“Please. If I didn’t get you something, you’d sulk for a week. I’m not dealing with that drama.” San stepped inside as he spoke.
“You surely know me well enough, Sanni!” Wooyoung grinned before holding out a small, neatly wrapped box toward San. “Now let's Trade~”
San exhaled a quiet laugh, placing his own gift in Wooyoung’s hand in exchange.
“You should open yours first, Sanni. I wanna see your reaction,” Wooyoung chimed, his eyes glittering with excitement.
San snorted, finding his best friend adorable, but complied, peeling away the wrapping. The moment he saw what was inside, his eyes widened, lips parting in delight.
It was a phone case—sleek, sturdy, and covered in a cartoonish black cat with sparkling eyes and a tiny pink heart.
San’s lips twitched as he turned it over in his hands, admiring the design. The cat looked almost too familiar.
“This…” San smirked, glancing at Wooyoung. “This little black cat kinda reminds me of you.”
