San woke up to the sunlight streaming through the curtains, the warmth forcing him out of his slumber. He wiggled his toes, groaning softly, and pulled the blanket over his face in protest.

"Wake up, Sanni! We've got so much planned for today. You promised to take me to the park in the evening too. So wake up!"
Wooyoung's voice echoed in his memory, vivid and full of life.
San sighed and opened his eyes, glancing at the calendar on his bedside table. The date-December 9th-was circled in red, with a small snowflake doodled beside it.
It had been two years since Wooyoung disappeared without a trace, leaving San behind with nothing but memories and heartbreak.

Dragging himself out of bed, San smiled faintly at the memory of Wooyoung waiting for him impatiently by the bathroom mirror, toothbrush in hand, pouting. The image warmed his heart and stung it all at once.
After freshening up, San rummaged through his wardrobe. His hand stopped on a familiar ash-colored sweater, soft to the touch. It had once belonged to Wooyoung. He slipped it on, wrapping his arms around himself, as though trying to recreate the warmth Wooyoung's presence had always given him.
Letting out a wistful sigh, he padded to the kitchen, where the coffee machine sat silently on the counter. It was the one he had bought for Wooyoung on his birthday two years ago, knowing his best friend's obsession with coffee.

San chuckled bitterly, recalling how Wooyoung used to brew their morning coffee, perfectly balancing the sweetness to suit San's unusual preference. Now, San brewed his own-a poor substitute for the love and care Wooyoung infused into every cup.
He fried an egg, toasted two slices of bread, and spread jam over them, setting his simple breakfast on the table along with a glass of milk. His eyes lingered on the empty chair across from him, once occupied by Wooyoung, who would chatter away, stealing bites from San's plate. Now in contrast, the silence was deafening.

After breakfast, it was time for dishes-a chore that once came with playful battles of Rock, paper, scissors! , Wooyoung usually won, but he never let San clean up alone. Instead, he perched on the counter, sharing funny stories and filling the small kitchen with laughter. Now, only the sound of running water and clinking dishes kept San company.

December 9th also meant baking a white chocolate strawberry cake-San's favorite. San's previous alone attempts had been disasters, poor imitations of the one Wooyoung had baked for him two years ago. Yet, the memory of Wooyoung's teasing, smearing chocolate on his face, and guiding him through the decorations was vivid in San's mind. He channeled those memories as he worked, his heart aching with every step.
When the cake was done, San cut slices, plating it carefully. "I need you here to tell me how much I've improved, Woo," he whispered, taking a bite.
