Wooyoung adjusted the cozy pillows on the large sectional sofa in his apartment, the faint scent of lavender candles filling the air as he prepared for his next client. Being a professional cuddler wasn’t something he’d ever imagined doing, but over time, he’d grown to love the idea of providing comfort to people who needed it most. His rules were simple: maintain professionalism, set clear boundaries, and always seek consent.
Yet, he couldn’t shake the nervous flutter in his chest—this session was going to be different. It was his first time working with someone his own age.
When the soft knock came, Wooyoung opened the door to a sight that tugged at his heartstrings. The man standing there had delicate features, but his eyes carried a weight that suggested he was holding so much in his heart. He stood awkwardly, his hands shoved into the pocket of his oversized hoodie, his lips pressed into a thin line. "Hi~", He greeted in a small voice.
“Hi!, You must be San,” Wooyoung said gently.
The latter nodded, his voice barely above a whisper. “Yeah. Thanks for seeing me.”
Wooyoung offered a kind smile, stepping aside to let him in. “Of course. Make yourself at home, San”
San entered hesitantly, his gaze flickering over the soft sofa, the array of pillows, and the warm ambiance of the room.
"Please, have a seat", Wooyoung gestured towards the said sofa. San perched at the edge of the seat, his shoulders hunched as though trying to make himself smaller.
“I know this might feel a little strange", Wooyoung began, sitting across from him. “It’s your very first session, right?”
San nodded, his fingers nervously fidgeting with the hem of his hoodie. “Yeah. I…I didn’t know what else to do. I just…”, He hesitated, his voice cracking slightly. “I feel so…empty. After my boyfriend…cheated on me with my best friend, I started feeling like I wasn’t worth anything. Like I don’t matter. It's been nearly four months now”
Wooyoung’s heart squeezed. “San, I’m so sorry you’ve been through that. You do matter, and I hope this session can help remind you of that.” His voice softened further. “We’ll go slow. If you feel uncomfortable at any point, just let me know, okay?”
San gave a small nod, his lips trembling. “Okay.”
Wooyoung scooted closer, his voice gentle. “Would it be okay if I gave you a hug to start?”
San hesitated, then nodded. “I think I’d like that.”
Wooyoung smiled and opened his arms, waiting for San to come to him. When San leaned forward, Wooyoung wrapped his arms around him, holding him with a quiet tenderness. He felt the tension in San’s body as if it were his own, the stiffness of someone unused to this kind of comfort. Slowly, Wooyoung rubbed soothing circles on his back, murmuring softly, "Don't worry, you're safe here" A small smile tugging at his lips as he felt San leaning further into his embrace.
