Cherish sat in Dr. Marishka's office for their weekly therapy sessions - something that Cherish had kept up with since returning from Barcelona.
The doctor's office was one Cherish was familiar with considering Dr. Marishka was the only therapist Cherish liked after trying out about three other therapists during her middle school years. Once Cherish felt there was no need for weekly meetings she then felt like she was okay with taking a pause with therapy. Only after all the changes in her life since meeting Miguel and the changes that came with graduating Cherish knew she should probably get professional help
In not seeing her therapist in a while meant there was a lot to catch up on, "How is it that you got into being a blackbelt in Karate?"
"I sort of just... fell into it" Cherish answers hands on the blue pillow on her lap
"From what I remember this wasn't the first time you learned how to fight?" Dr. Marishka asks having referred to her notes
"Right. My mom got my aunt Hayley to teach me to fight at a young age because she wanted me to be able to defend myself in the future. Worked pretty well considering all the karate fights I'd been thrown into from the start. Unlike a lot of my friends I didn't start from zero skills"
"And when these fights were happening it was between two dojos?"
Cherish purses her lips as explaining why the dojos fought and how many there was to people who didn't live through it felt like gibberish, "Well at the start it was Cobra Kai versus Miyagi-Do, then those two plus Eagle Fang but then things happened and Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang became one dojo versus Cobra Kai"
"And through it all you chose Miyagi-Do as the dojo to join?" Dr. Marishka asks wanting them to be on the same page while also having a point to all the questions she was asking
"Yes"
"While the option to not fight was there, why did you choose to join a dojo and learn karate?"
"My friends were in trouble." Cherish answers only in seeing Dr. Marishka wanting her to continue, Cherish just said what came to mind "I... I felt like i needed to choose a dojo that best aligned with what i believe and I choose Miyagi-Do"
