Rayne started to remember why she hated that fighting was required for being a Guardian. One: she had never fought before and never liked violence to begin with. Two: she was not athletic. The only sport or physical activity she enjoyed and knew how to play was golf. Combat was ten times more difficult for her.
Thankfully for her and her other three friends, they were able to recover and take care of their injuries in Mrs. Vespers classroom. It was 2 pm lunch time so she provided them with apple slices and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. She even had grey sweatpants and black shirts or long sleeves for them. They clearly needed that from how torn and run down their own clothes were from that fight.
After, the four each told their own stories about what happened before the big fight between them and the red jacket soldiers.
Lilly and Vincent took turns explaining their interaction with the trio of a blond woman with the two battle axes, tan guy that had a shield and sword, and a pale knife guy. The two suspected that pale knife guy was some type of leader from how the other two followed after he asked what the two Guardian's business was. That was the same question Rayne and George was asked.
Rayne fully took over as she explained her and George's side. How they also got ambushed by another trio themselves. They think that the leader for that group was the deep brown woman with short curly dark brown hair. A quiver full of red, green and black arrows, hung behind her back with a compound bow that seemed like it had a lot of components to it. She wore the same kind of outfit of bright red jacket, black jean pants, and combat boots.
Behind her stood two taller and muscular guys who had to be at least sixteen. On Rayne's right, that guy had straight black short hair, a bit like hers, almond shaped eyes, and beige skin. He was armed with a pickaxe that hung upside down behind his back as well.
The guy on the left had more of porcelain skin. Wavy black hair was pushing against the wind. He had thick eyebrows and pronounced cheekbones. His hands were in metal gloves that did not cover the whole hand. They even had Wolverine like silver claws. At the time, Rayne did hope that George would fight Wolverine guy.
In the end, he did. He and Rayne did have to fight where the trio ambushed them right after the girl decided to make fun of George's dirt like baby face. She made sure to take note that he did not like talking about his noticeable freckles.
While she fought the two boys and exhaustedly defeated them, what had to be ten other red wearing jacket soldiers rushed a teen feet behind the first group. That's what made Rayne and George head over to the abandoned factory building. They had to after Rayne helped him knock out Katniss girl on his side.
On the contrary, the two did not see any packed fireworks on any of the other soldiers. Rayne heard a piercing shot from behind her as they ran to the building. That was all she needed to hear to conclude that someone had set off a firework.
To make sure everyone heard everything clearly, the instructor had everyone sit in a circle with their seats. Once Rayne was done with their story with the help of George the whole group got quiet, for only a second. Mrs. Vesper, however, pointed one odd thing about the conversation, that Rayne and the boys didn't notice.
"Lily? What are you thinking?" The three were so invested in their stories that they didn't pay attention to the others body language.
Looking back, Rayne could remember how Lily was still crossing her arms over her chest and only asked one question compared to everyone else who asked more than five questions. All she asked was, how did the soldiers seem to them? Then she got quiet when they all said that the soldiers just seemed dangerous.
She shook her head and mumbled. "I-It's nothing. Nothing about the fight."
"You sure?" Rayne arched a brow of doubt.
Lily just rubbed her hands, like Rayne does sometimes when she is highly nervous for a presentation or English exam. Lily would have probably stayed quiet if it wasn't for the instructor encouraging her to speak. "Lily, talk to us."
Before she did, she sighed, probably hoping that whatever anxiety she was feeling would just go away. "One of the guys I was fighting against was...off."
"'Off' how?" Vincent asked. She opened her mouth at one point to respond, but closed it. It looked as if she was going to say one thing, but said something completely different. She was hiding something, probably more than one thing. Then she explained almost everything. Her attention to his detail, the feeling of wanting to get close to this Thorne soldier. It even creeped Rayne out.
"I couldn't hear anything. It felt off fighting against him." Lily fiddled with her fingers.
"And you thought this wasn't relevant to this mornings fight?" Vincent had to be the first one to speak up with that kind of question.
Now she was more annoyed than embarrassed about it all. "Not really. I'm sorry!"
"Well, we know now. It's nothing to be mad about." The instructor calmly said which did help the others get more quiet.
"So do you have any idea what might have happened?" George spoke up.
Mrs. Vesper nodded. "I have one suspicion that could have happened."
"What's that?" Vincent said.
"That you are linked to that guy." How many more magical things can possibly blow up ones head? If one more thing about the magical world decides to appear, Rayne's head could blow up.
"Linked?" Lily quietly gasped. "What does that mean?"
The instructor folded her arms. "It means that, your souls are now one."
Lilys heart must have dropped if not, Rayne's did for her. She couldn't imagine being tied or linked to a guy she has never met. It's like the worst of the worst of arrange marriages, but the parents didn't arrange it. Rayne highly despises them. "So I'm tied to him?!" Lily stood up as she yelled.
"Unfortunately, yes." The instructor sighed, sadly.
"How can I be linked to this guy who I have never met!?"
"You didn't do anything for that to happen?" Vincent suggested.
"No!" Lily basically shrieked.
"Linking is not something a magical being can do." Mrs. Vesper thankfully mentioned. "It is something that can happen from the powerful ones before us, thinking that whoever they link together are what humans call, soulmates."
"Can I get unlinked from this guy?" Lily wondered.
The students had to have hoped on the inside that there was a way to break Lily's link, but their hopes were shattered right away when the instructor shook her head. "I'm sorry, but you can't."
Lilys expression turned from anger to sadness real quick, when her voice broke as she asked, "W-Why not?"
"The two sides of the links can feel whatever physical pain each get. When one side of the links looses their life, the other half dies with it. So no matter what. Lily, you are linked to that guy, forever."
