George has been told he's clumsy. He is always dropping stuff, tripping over obvious cracks and objects, etc. He can't even help his own mother cook from how many times he accidentally knocked pans and mixing spoons or ingredients over off the counter. Unlike other families, George's family enjoyed cooking together. Barely any fights were happening and there was good food in the end. Seeing his family enjoy cooking together, made eating meals with them not so enjoyable. He felt out of place. He didn't want to feel out of place yielding a powerful weapon.
Now thinking about it, George never felt out of place with the other student Guardians. They all have their own powers, they're all kids, they're all mentally challenged, to a extent, but they all get each other. George's family never tried to understand him. If there was discussions about finance or realtor stuff, his older siblings and parents would be got know each other better. Clara and Edison are old enough to have jobs, being in college and all. Their mom is teaching Edison how finance works while their dad is teaching Clara how to really sell people houses. George isn't at that age for them to teach him all that. He doesn't have a interest in those fields anyway. Sports have been his passion. George has been able to improve his body strength when developing his own super strength. Hopefully, using a weapon wouldn't be that hard?
The next day, Mrs. Vesper instructed the four students that they wouldn't be going to the gym this time. Like they needed to train their bodies after their first not so good fight with the lady villain group. George's back was still recovering from getting roughly pushed against a tree. It was hard to walk throughout the whole school day. Sitting was still easy to do.
Mrs. Vesper had the students sit in their desks, while she was shockingly was able to use one of the handles on the side to drag out a dark green leather trunk, from the classrooms storage closet.
George was able to ask one of the important questions first, "How did you have that big thing in there?"
She sighed. "You'd be surprised of how much space schools give teachers for supplies.
"I don't think they meant the closets to hide big trunks." Rayne suggested.
The instructor moved loose strands of her hair behind her ears. "And yet, it was able to hide this special trunk."
Opening the trunk also released gasps among the students. "Woooaaahhh!"
Even though the trunk was not organized, they could still see the multitude of weapons that were now available to them now. Some even looked like they weren't even used or just fixed to perfection. As the four took how many knives, spears, bows, even axes there were, Vincent still had the urge to grab one of the nun chucks. What stopped him was a wack on his hand from Mrs. Vesper.
"Ow!" He exclaimed. "What was that for?!"
She straightened her body. "You can only handle the weapon you choose to use. They are too special to be played like toys. You guys get to choose your own weapons one by one. So no two will get in a fight or four. Rayne, you go first."
"Yes!" She cheered while the others went back to their seats.
Vincent sat back down as he asked, "Why didn't we get to choose our weapons in the beginning, when we first started training?"
The instructor leaned against her own desk. "You can't start learning how to fight with a weapon. First, you have to learn to fight with your body. Then you can add a special element."
It only took Rayne a few seconds of looking for her to accidentally cause a pile of mixed ages and daggers to fall over.
Mrs. Vesper then advised, "Once you pick your weapons, they are officially your responsibilities. So choose wisely."
