"Let's go! Move!" Lingston's men were pushing everyone along and yelling loudly.
Leeli was sobbing as Thorn hugged her tightly. Nia was hugging a crying Arundelle but she herself had silent tears running down her cheeks. Janner held Sara as they walked. Kal and Galya walked in utter silence. Both not sure what to say.
"In here! And stop that crying! You guys are ridiculous!" One of the guards yells as they shove the family into a cell.
Kal turns on his heels and is about to yell at the guard but Janner puts a hand on his shoulder and shakes his head. "We've lost." He says to his little brother. Kal's eyes drop and he nods slowly.
"Yes you have. Have fun in here. See you at the cornation." One of the guards laughs and they all walk away.
Everyone is silent as they slump down unto yhe gritty, dusty floor.
Everyone is silent for a long time. No one has words. They've lost their kingdom, people, and most importantly, they lost Artham...
No one wanted to talk. No one even really wanted to move. They all just wanted to rest. It had been a long time since they've felt rest. Even in a dirty cell at the bottom of their castle that they had just lost, the wanted rest.
Leeli was humming softly. A soft, broken tune that ended in tragedy, becasue that's what had happened, tragedy.
The only sounds in the room was Arundelle's broken sobs and Nia's soft shushing, trying to console her.
It was cold in the cellar, dark. No one knew when good and water would be brought but did it really matter anyways? They had lost everything.
"Janner." Nia looked at her son with tired eyes. "You made the right choice today. It may not seem like it, but I am very proud of you."
Janner couldn't bring himself to speak. He merely nodded at him mother and held on to Sara tighter.
He knew the choice was right. Yet he still felt sorry. How could he not? The Shinning Isle had fallen into the wrong hands. Who knows what would become of it. But at least he was able to save his family, even for only a moment.
*Three days later*
They had been brung food and water once in the three days they had been there. Everyone was tired, miserable, and yet no one uttered a complaint. They knew it was helpless.
"Look at the lovely royal family!" The voice of one of Lingston's men startled them all. Kal, Janner, and Thorn stood up as quickly as their tired bodies would allow, standing as close to the cell door as they could, protecting their loved ones.
"The cornation starts today, time to get ready." The man said with a sneer. Suddenly the door opened and more men came in. And they were bound and gagged once again.
They were pushed up the stairs were the sun pouring through the windows blinded them.
Janner began to panic whenever he saw they were all being taken to separate rooms. He tried to fight against the man who held him but he was rewarded with a smack on the head that sent stars clouding his vision.
"You'll see them later! Now stop struggling, runt!"
Janner's heart broke when he saw Leeli being dragged along by her hands, both her limp and her good leg were being dragged behind her. Her good leg couldn't keep up anymore.
Janner was thrown in a room of the castle, forced into clothes that seemed presentable and left in their without a word. He tried to open the door but it was locked. He tried the window, it was locked, and they were to high up for him to escape anyways.
Janner panicked. What is going on? What are they doing to Sara, Leeli, Mother, Arundelle? To everyone? Why did they leave us separated?
"Janner." A whisper from the closet made Janner reach for a sword he no longer had.
A clocked figure emerged from the shadows. Janner got into fighting position when thought his tired limbs screamed to rest. He would be taken down in a second.
"Calm down! I ain't gonna hurt you!" The cloaked figure whisper screamed as he pulled down her cloak.
As she pulled down her cloak.
"Maraly?" Janner half yelled in surprise.
"SHH!" Maraly ran over to him and covered his mouth with her hand. "Are you trying to get us both caught?" She did a once over on him. "Well, are you trying to get me caught? Seems like you already got yourself there."
Janner pushed her hand away and whispered, "What are you doing here?"
"Tryin to save you lot. I heard about what was happening and came as quick as I could. Seems I wasn't fast enough." She said quietly.
"Maraly, you might be just in time. The cornation starts soon. What's the plan." Janner felt hope bubble in his chest.
"First drink this, don't ask what's in it." She shoved him a leather pouched that sloshed with louis inside. "It'll give you yer strength back for a while. Here drink this water to. I ain't got any food so the first drink should help with that."
Janner didn't ask questions, he trusted Maraly. Even if the first drink tasted disgusting and he had to chug the water to wash away the taste. Instantly he started feeling better.
"I got a plan. But you gotta do exactly what I say, understand?" She said after he had drunk all that she gave him.
"Yes." Janner said with determination.
Maraly quickly told him the plan. She had found the ropes that she knew thy would use to tie the all up so she cut the in all different places, that way it wouldn't be noticeable that they were weak. She told Janner that she found some of the smoke that Lingston had been hiding, Janner knew it was the same one Lingston used at the very begging when they had taken Sara. The plan was that she would try to get some strength back into as many of the family as she could before they were called for the cornation and she would tell them the plan. Everyone would be immune to the smoke becasue of the drink she gave them and that would give Janner and Kal enough time to break their bounds and get to Lingston. The rest was up to them.
"I best be off. I don't think I got much time and I got to tell the others." Maraly pulled her cloak back and and started towards the window.
"It's locked." Janner said quietly.
She swung it open without a problem. "I know." She grinned under her hood and said, "Good luck Throne Warden."
And she was gone.
Janner hurried to look out the window. No signs of her. And he shut it quickly.
He didn't know what would happen. He didn't know if any of the plan would even work. But he didn't know one thing: Maraly Weaver might have just saved them all.
