CHAPTER TEN

In the Ten months of her relationship, Jemima has never felt as alone as she was feeling at the moment, she should have seen it but then didn't think too much about it. She was living in the moment, making her lose sight of what had come. Ayo had started again and just like a film she was wallowing in her stupidity all over, this time his off didn't take long as a message from him again made her smile. This didn't go unnoticed by Kamsi, she was over Ayo's treatment towards Jemima but there was nothing she could do other than advice and watch from a distance.

Ayo has never made it easy to be on his side when her girls tabled his matter, he acted in ways no one understood, she had always thought it was a character deficient or an experience, Kamsi would say he had commitment issues so he was always running. Dami had told her in the beginning that he wasn't what she wanted but Jemima hadn't gotten that until recently. He was everything and at the same time nothing, when he was interested he was interested, and when he wasn't there was no persuading and Jemima is not one to tell a man how to treat her. She has learned that from being in a ten-month relationship with Ayo.

She remembered their first time meeting, Ayo had not wanted a relationship, he didn't want anything serious, and the excitement of being in a relationship blinded her from seeing the message he had sent. It was when she met Tami for the first time and Ayo didn't introduce her as his girlfriend she realized something was missing, she spoke to him about it which didn't end like she wanted, they took a break after she had told him what they both wanted was different. He came back to start a serious relationship with her, she had accepted after Kamsi had advised her not to, Jemima was very infatuated to care about Kamsi's observation.

Jemima spent half of her day in her room, listening to sad music while journaling and thinking, something she had started as a way to express her emotions on paper. She knew she wanted better, she knew she was trapping herself, but deep down she still knew it hurt to love someone who might not be on the same page as her. She read the past notes and letters she had written to herself and Ayo, tears fell as she read further, she was feeling a lot of emotions that made her lost, she had given so many chances, many chances that were still not enough for Ayo to act right and treat her better. She was already irritated by being in her feelings for too long even though it felt good thinking and revisiting her past. She switched off the music, closed her journal, and tried to watch a movie when a call came in. She sighed in relief when she saw the caller ID.

She hadn't spoken to Damola in a while, after that time she had been trying to avoid him, but avoiding your boss wasn't possible, the past week she had spent time in his office working on a report, customer benefit, employee benefit, anything Damola thought off the moment he got to work. They had become boss and employee easily, she appreciated he stayed back but she missed him.

"You're ignoring me?" Damola asked instead of stating the obvious as soon as she took the call.

"Why would I?" She smiled

"You didn't reply to my messages and you know the others.."

"Stalking me are you." She giggled, she was easily flirty with Damola, but it didn't bother her too much cos she enjoyed the energy he reciprocated. "I've been busy."

"Ohh you don't say."

"Fool... Why did you call?"

"Are you free today?"

"Please don't give me another report..."

"I'm not calling you as your boss."

"Oh, what's up?"

"My friend invited me to a disco thing..."

"And you thought I would be a perfect partner for this disco thing?"
