Towards the Unknown

Aurora's POV

Isang linggo. Yup. Isang buong linggo.

I have been trapped in this gilded cage for an entire week.

That's the longest I had ever been imprisoned in my whole entire life. Heck! Even my enemies cannot imprison me this long, back when I was still an agent working for the country.

I may not be imprisoned physically, no chains, no locked doors, no armed guards keeping me in a cell, but that didn't make it any less of a prison.

Lucian Cassius was not a fool.

He had given me everything—luxury, fine clothes, gourmet meals. Everything except freedom.

But I knew something he didn't.

He thought he had me under control. He thought he knew what I was planning.

But Lucian... you only know what I want you to know. You're not omniscient.

Because today, I will be getting the hell out of here, by hook or by crook.

He does not know about me being filthy rich. He does not know about me purchasing Rasmon.

He does not know anything at all about my plans, and the one concerning Shadows.

How did I know? I have been testing his knowledge these past few days. And based on his actions, answers, and observations, I conclude that he has zero idea of what I am really planning. Even my business ideas, wala siyang ka ide-ideya. He only knows surface level at iyon lang isang gabi na tumakas ako para i-assasinate si Montefeltro.

That night, he also came to sabotage the deal, but instead him assassinating Montefeltro, he saw me assassinating him, and he became curious about me and my skills. He knew about me being me a de Fidellis then, but he did not know I was the original de Fidellis not until he investigated me after that night. That's when he knew that I was not Phoebe's daughter, his arch-nemesis, but the daughter of the original de Fidellis.

And according to him, he wants to know my future plans regarding the fake de Fidellis because he also wishes for their downfall. That's why he's treating me like Rapunzel in this fortress.

But too bad. He won't be able to use me against his enemies, our enemies.

Breakfast was the same routine. Me sitting across from Lucian at a long, elegant dining table, pretending I wasn't strategizing my escape while he watched me like I was his most interesting puzzle.

"You've been keeping me here for a week," mapanuyang sabi ko sa kanya.

Lucian took a slow sip of his coffee. "Impatient already?"

"I'm not a house cat, Lucian. If you expected me to settle in and start purring, you're sorely mistaken," sagot ko sa kanya

His lips curled slightly, amusement flickering in his gray eyes. "I'd never compare you to a house cat, Kinara. You're more like a wild one—unpredictable, stubborn, always looking for a way out."
