Lost

Aurora's POV

The anticipation in the air was thick, a silent tension weaving through the grand auction hall of Spuador. This was no ordinary event. It was a battleground where wealth dictated power, and influence was won not by force, but by sheer financial supremacy.

I was dressed in a meticulously tailored black ensemble.

My gown was made of the finest black silk. Its high collar was adorned with delicate silver embroidery, giving it an air of quiet regality. The bodice was structured, cinched at the waist with intricate silver-threaded buttons that gleamed under the dim auction lights. Flowing sleeves ended in ruffled cuffs, adding a touch of elegance, while the fabric clung perfectly to my form before cascading into a sweeping skirt.

Adorned with a black rose, a wide-brimmed hat cast a shadow over my face, further concealing my features. However, it was the mask that ensured my anonymity, a sleek, sculpted piece of black porcelain covering the upper half of my face, leaving only my crimson-painted lips visible. The final touch was a pair of black gloves that encased my hands, preventing even the slightest trace of recognition.

My presence here was a ghost in the wind. I am unseen, unknown, yet undeniably present.

I paid a hefty sum for this, but the anonymity it granted was well worth the price. The cubicle's tinted glass ensured I could observe the auction floor without being seen, while the soundproof walls shielded my presence from prying ears.

Members of Spuador's elite, foreign dignitaries, and underground moguls filled the seats, their masked faces betraying nothing but their greed and ambitions.

I exhaled slowly, my fingers drumming lightly on the velvet armrest. Despite the tension crackling in the air, I was calm and collected. I knew what I had come here for.

The Spuador Grand Auction was a rare occurrence, held once every fifteen years, and hosted by the Government Trade Sector to stimulate the economy and attract investors. This year, however, its purpose had shifted. The recent attacks had shaken Spuador's financial foundation, and this event served as a desperate attempt to stabilize the crumbling power structure.

"Ladies and gentlemen," the auctioneer's smooth and commanding voice rang across the hall. We welcome you to this year's Spuador Grand Auction. Tonight, you shall bear witness to the rarest of artifacts, the most exquisite of luxuries, and the most exclusive of opportunities. Let the bidding begin."

Let the games begin.

These were warm-ups, setting the stage for the real battle to come.

"One million Glisean Dollars."
