The house was quiet, too quiet

The house was quiet, too quiet. Considering three teenage kids lived inside it, none had spoken a word since coming back home last night. They had all drifted off two Bella's room, the three of them spending the night within reach of one another.

His fingers traced over the net of his lacrosse stick, his thoughts swirling along with each line. He re traced that night in his head, step by step. He was wondering if maybe there was something he could have done to stop the domino from falling.

He had dropped Bella off at school less than an hour ago. He took note of the fact that Edward, Alice, and Jasper were not there when he pulled into the parking lot.

Damon's brown eyes drifted across the room, landing on his phone that hadn't buzzed all night.

He didn't sleep, his mind too busy racing a thousand miles per second. Instead, he sat by the window staring out into the woods. He would occasionally look back to check on his siblings.

While he looked away, she looked up, her golden eyes staring up at him.

He waited for her call, or text, anything, even a bird. Although she would most likey suck it dry, and just through the dead body at his winodw.

"You want to do something?" Hardin's voice drifted around the quiet room.

Damon looked over at him, his fingers stull tracing the net. "Like what?" He asked. "Because I'm not reading a book."

"Well, I'm not throwing or catching a ball." Hardin stated. He sat up from his position in bed and placed his book marker inside his book. "We could watch a movie or start the new season of criminal minds?"

Damon pursed his lips. "I could watch criminal minds." Hardin nodded before getting up from his bed and making his way out the door.

"I'll start the popcorn."

Damon nodded his head, watching him leave before looking back down to his lacrosse stick. Despite the running thoughts and feelings he held for what happened the other day, as soon as Hardin spoke, those worries drifted away.

As if they were scared by Hardin's voice.

His brother is the reason those voices stopped inside his head.

The two boys spent there day, sitting in front of the tv watching the show, which had them hooked. They sat there for hours until Bella rang.

"Can you pick me up?" She questioned softly.

Damon got up from his spot, going to put his shoes on and grab his keys. "Yeah." He went silent for a moment. "Edward not show?" The question hung in the air for a moment, and Hardin looked over his eyes watching his brother.

"No."

Her voice was low and soft, almost like she was afraid she would break if she spoke the words louder.
