Damon had done well in keeping his promises to show up to therapy. The agreement they made was going well. Although if he was being honest, a part of him didn't care about the agreement anymore. He actually quite liked Doctor Linda's company.

He was taking his meetings regularly, but there were some things that he hid from her. The killings, the vampires, and all the dirty little secrets that Phoneix held. Although she was getting closer to breaking down the Phoneix wall.

Brick by brick.

But right now, Damon had to show up to his real job. The one with Toby's father. Jackson. The man is pulling him into a meeting after meeting so that Damon can learn the roots.

Right now, Damon stood over a house design. He furrowed his eyebrows at it.

"Come on, tell me what's wrong?" Jackson muttered as he passed Damon. "You've got that look on your face." He pointed to his face.

"Looks like the house would fall down as soon as it's built." He pointed to the right side of the plan. "Structures not stable on this side, you'd be building a leaning tower."

Jackson snorted as he took a seat at his desk, his eyes locking back onto Damon. "What do you want, Damon? Because every plan that passes my desk you given that 'I hate this entire idea' look."

Damon took a deep breathe, he had been working for Jackson for a while now, and it turned out the man had taken a liking to him, which is what Toby had been telling him.

"I want a house." Damon turned to him, Jackson keeping his face neutral. "I want to build a house."

"Why?"

"Does it matter." Damon retaliated back.

"It's my men and money and resources you're going to be using, so yes, it does matter." Jackson leaned forward in his seat, watching Damon move towards the winodw that overlooked the town bellow them.

Damon stuffed his hands inside his pockets. His eyes drifted towards the forest, which was just beyond the town.

"Technically, you already gave me the land and the house." Damon spoke up.

Jackson smiled. "That broken down house just outside of town, the one in the forest." He nodded, remembering when he took Damon to the land, and he himself didn't see much to do with it, but the look in Damon's eyes spoke different.

"So you have the land, what else are you after. I can lend you some people."

Damon shook his head. "I don't need help." He sighed. "I just need time to fix up the place. It needs a lot of work."

"This for a girlfriend, Swan?" Jackson furrowed his eyebrows. "Toby told me that Hale girl left town."

Damon was silent. Was it for a girl? No. This was for her, a woman, well, technically a vampire. That's who this was for. Because maybe he would never see her again.
