The sound of cheers rang threw his ears, his name being chanted like a prayer, the smell of sweat and blood mixed together, always sent a shiver down his spine, his eyes took in the sight of the crowd all of them waving around money and screeming. His hands were wrapped in tape to try to offer him some protection, but it did near to no use.

He threw punch after punch, enjoying the way his knuckles burned, for the first time in a month. His head stopped spinning. All he focused on was winning tonight.

"Go on, Damon!" Said man spat out the blood from his mouth as he rolled his jaw. He shuffeled forward, throwing a punch to the mans jaw and another to his stomach.

He could feel the thrill run down his spine, this was what he was spending his nights doing, throwing punches, blocking them, breaking bones, or getting bruises himself.

Damon didn't have friends. All he had was people who would bet on him, people who would gamble their wages on him winning.

Those who did bet on him tonight won. When he delivered a uppercut to the man's jaw, the guy went collapsing on the floor.

"Yeah!" Damon rasied his arms in the air with a grin, not caring for the fact he had blood dripping from his mouth or the blood on his knuckles.

Luckily, Damon had managed to avoid a few face hits as most of his damage was on his chest area, which meant he could hide that with a t-shirt.

"You certainly know how to fight." A voice came from behind him, but Damon didn't turn around. Instead, he counted his cash he had been given from his win.

"No shit." Damon said. He stuffed the money in his bag, zipping it up and throwing it over his shoulder. "Did you see that other guy?"

"Oh yeah, I mean that upper cut was pretty impressive."

"Pretty?" Damon turned around with a raised eyebrow. He took a moment to look at the guy and chuckled slightly when he finally realzied who it was. "I know you, you were at my house that night."

"Yeah, I'm the one who found your sister, I'm Sam." He held his hand out.

Damon looked down at it before shaking it, squeezing the guys hand a little before pulling away. "Well, Sam, I also remember pointing a gun in your face." He smiled. "So do yourself a favour and stay away from my sister because next time, I'll pull the trigger."

Sam raised his hands in defence as he watched Damon walk away.

He tilted his head slightly, Billy was right, Damon Swan was a mystery, and he was dangerous. But Sam could see something more.

He could see a young man who was hurting, and he didn't want to let anyone in.

Sam knew that pain. He had gone through it a year ago. He didn't want to stand back and watch as another guy went through the same ache he did.
