"Cruel,
The way you treat me like a stranger,"
- The Veronicas (Cruel)----------
"Amen."
"Amen." The class replied in steady chorus of Mrs Trey.
"Please stack your chairs. Then you can talk quietly amongst yourselves until the bell goes," Instantly, all thirty of us started to bustle with movement. Tess, Emma and Shanille quietly talked by their desk while the guys put the chairs away. Whereas typically, George and Jonah were running around threatening to steal one another's hats. Rose and Athena were attempting push-ups while I sat there, on the table, somewhat judging everyone. I know I shouldn't judge others, but I guess I just have my own way of doing stuff. It's not like I'm gonna go over there and start bossing everyone around or anything. The bell rang and everyone spilled out of the busy classroom. I waited for everyone to clear out so I could exit without hassle.
Even walking down the stairs from the third floor to the second floor where my locker was situated, I could spot Lucas. His tall figure spiked up over the lockers, while an equally tall Darcy stood there, pointing at him. Probably accusing him of something stupid, I thought. Approaching the loud scene, I oppositely opened my locker to find a note in messy handwriting blue tacked to the inside. I smiled as I read the letter. Leila, my sister, was always breaking into my locker; either for my food, or my money that was spread out through my mess of a locker. I knelt down, so as to reach my locker easier. Leila has an idea for Terraria! Cool! I stuffed the note in my bag as I heard the familiar cry of my retarded best friend, Darcy, and screamed back in an equally mental way to match.
She threw her hand up in the air and waved. Turning back to my locker, I spotted Allison waiting patiently behind me, waiting so she could get into her own locker.
"Oh, sorry Allision," I said quickly said, starting to rush the ongoing pack up of my bag.
"Nah, don't worry. It's all good." She smiled at me, which I returned thankfully, and thirty seconds later, I was waving goodbye to my 'totes amazeballs' locker buddy, and watched her friend Sophia Samson start to talk to her. Of course, walking down the stairs, I saw Lucas walk halfway down the stairs, sit on the railing, and slide down the rest of the way. I watched him leave, awestricken. Typically, being me, I decided to copy the moron of a boy, and sat on the railing. I started to slide down, but quickly jumped off, surprised that it worked, tripped down the rest of the stairs, scraped my knee on the pavement, and landed on my butt on the ground.
On the outside, I started laughing in an attempt to cover up my "skills". While on the inside, my knee was bursting with pain and I was struggling not to cry. Twice in one day falling over, I thought, remembering at the start of the morning when I was tripped by Darcy. I laughed at the thought, and continued walking to the back of the school where I knew Leila was waiting for me.
The walk out was long and boring, with Leila rambling stupidly in my earhole. While walking, I heard an obvious, 'I want your attention please,' cough. I turned around to see Flint walking behind my sister and I. I smiled, so he did the same. He walked a little faster to be right beside me.
"Hi Harper," he started.
"Hey,"
"How are you?" I smiled, thinking, just be nice, just be nice. So I replied with,
"You do realise that you've already asked me that today? But yeah, I'm good." He looked confused, but almost as if he regretted asking the question.
"Oh, um," we stopped at the lights, waiting for the green arrow, while I attempted to halt the awkwardness.
"So, what subjects are you doing this term?" I asked. He seemed relieved by the change of topic, and said,
"Oh, Media, Geography and-" the lights turned green and everyone started to cross the road. "Bye." He said, and waved.
"Bye." I replied, still smiling. We split at the crossroad, Leila and I turning right, while Flint and his brother turned left. My usual blue, Nissan Dualis awaited my tired head, smiling face and sore knees.
If only I knew what Darcy would tell me the next day...
