sotc: flightless bird, american mouth by iron and wine and tear in my heart by twenty one pilots

I was in a room filled with white, purple, and red flowers. I looked to my side to see my hand intertwined with a man. Luke. He was so beautiful when he wasn't paying attention to himself. His hand scratching at his beard, his thumb grazing his lip once in a while. His blue eyes, similar to mine, roaming the flowers. In a way, he looks just as innocent as he tells me I am. I felt little arms wrap around my waist and I look down to see just who this is. It was a little girl, and she was laughing and smiling at me.

I crouched down to get eye-level with her. I was about to ask her if she needed help but when I saw her, I gasped and threw my hand over my mouth. She looked just like me. Her eyes were my blue, and her cheekbones and lips resembled mine. But she had such a familiar nose, and her hair color and face-shape as well. It hadn't hit me until I looked beside me to see Luke smiling and laughing out of joy. She was ours. She ran to him and he engulfed her tiny body into his broad torso. I felt a tear slip down my cheek and Luke reached over to wipe it.

"Too good to be true?" He asked and I smiled and nodded. "Yeah, that's because it isn't."

My eyes shot open and I sat up a little bit. I rubbed my face and felt wetness. Was I actually crying? I guess so. I sighed and looked over at my clock. 3:47 AM. Well, at least I don't have to wake up to go to school tomorrow. I got up and went downstairs to grab some water.

I was in the middle of filling up my cup when I heard banging at the door. I dropped my glass of water in the sink as I felt something deep in me that felt strange. I tiptoed to the door to look through the peep hole and I saw a very big man with something in his hand and he was still banging on the door. My instinct told me to run, and obviously I did. I ran straight to Luke's room.

I didn't bother knocking; I just ran in and went straight to the side of his bed. I shook him and shook him until he woke up and stirred beside me.

"Hannah, baby, what are you doing-"

"Luke, I went to go get some water and I was filling up my cup and then I heard banging on the door and I dropped the glass and I accidentally broke it and I looked through the looky-hole thingy and it was a really fricking scary man and he had something in his hand and I got scared so I ran up to wake you up and he is still banging on the door." I couldn't help my rambling, I was in panic-mode. Luke sighed and got out of bed to put on clothes, as he was only in his boxers. I couldn't help but stare as he put on a pair of sweatpants and a plain black T-shirt. He smirked and I looked away.

"Alright, please stay here, baby girl. Don't follow me." I nodded my head and sat on his bed as he left the room and closed the door behind him. His room was a bit colder than the others in the house, so I wrapped his blanket around me. I inhaled his scent and instantly relaxed. Who was that guy? I knew it was something with Dad's business, but he wasn't here. What did he want, then?

I sat for what felt like an eternity, worrying for Luke. I heard the door open and I looked up at Luke as he mouthed, "Hide." I got up and squeezed under his bed. I heard heavy footsteps and I really did wonder how Elizabeth hasn't woken up.

"I know she is here, you fucker, where is she?"

"She went with her friends tonight, she isn't here. Even if she was here, you wouldn't do anything; are you fucking dumb?-"

"Take something that is worth a lot to him when he doesn't give me what I need. He said that."

"Yeah, he meant a T.V. or something, you dumbass. Trust me, it is in your best interest to steal the T.V. instead." He sounded like he was holding in a laugh, almost.
