I instinctively know that it's Jagger's hands placed on my shoulders as he turns me towards him.

I blink at him kneeling on the floor in front of me. "Grayson girl..."

Swallowing roughly, I wrap my arms around him and pull his head to my chest, holding him tightly. "You don't know how grateful I've been to have you in my life, Jagger."

His arms wrap around my middle, squeezing me firmly. "You are my light." He says softly. "I- I-" I start combing my hand through his wavy hair, trying to bring him comfort. "I wouldn't..." He trails off.

I tighten my grip on his hair and gently pull his head up, leaning forward to connect our foreheads. The greens in his eyes remind me of the untamed forest, something boundless and dangerous.

Then I offer him a link.

Jagger's eyes widen slightly before he eagerly grabs hold of the tether and throws his mind at me. We collide, and a deep ache within my body eases. I let out a slight breath at the weight it relieves me from.

Anxiety and distress move like a mountain slide over my senses, making my heart skip a beat.

My eyes bounce between Jagger's, trying to sort through his emotions.

"You wouldn't what?" I encourage him softly.

Dread pooled at the bottom of both our stomachs, our emotions merging and festering with each other.

Jagger looks up at me with agony in his eyes. "I wouldn't still be here. You saved me." He admits with a gasp.

Time stops.

My aura glows, power sparking up and down my arms.

There is a roaring in my ears and my body is being propelled away from Jagger as if by-

I slam back into my body in an instant. Air is forced into my lungs and I have to catch myself from crumpling onto the ground. The wooden bowl rattles from on top of the coffee table, but it doesn't take my attention off Jagger.

Finn and Ryker's equally tense bodies tell me what I need to know about this information. This was Jagger's first time telling anybody.

I grab Jagger's face in my hands and bring his forehead to my lips, kissing him as gently and carefully as I can.

Jagger's body wracks with a sob. "I- I didn't- Goddess, Gray, I'm so sorry."

I shake my head as I pull back from him. "You don't have anything to-"

"Yes I do!" Jagger raises his voice, cutting me off. "I wouldn't have been there if- you wouldn't have- I wouldn't have run straight fucking into you." His teary eyes look up at me into my soul and a breath escapes me. "It was all my fault. I crashed into you, and hurt you."

My eyes widen in understanding. My 16th birthday.

He had been planning- Goddess.

Crashing into me had stopped him?

Jagger nods sloppily. "You are my light." He says forcefully. "A fucking wolf had just run straight into you, throwing you off your bike at who-knows-how-fast, and still you chose to help me."

A tear slips down at the memory, even as my lips twitch up into a slight smile.

"Jagger." My voice is guttural, like my vocal cords were being scraped over hot coals. "Don't you know you saved me too?" I say in the softest voice.

Jagger's heartbreak sweeps through me in response to my feelings, at the truth he felt through our link.

"You saved us both." I whisper. "We both would have been gone if you hadn't crashed into me."
