Monday arrived with a quiet stillness, sunlight filtering through the curtains in soft golden ribbons that warmed the room.

Wanda blinked awake slowly, her senses returning one by one. Her eyes fluttered open to find Y/N still asleep beside her, curled comfortably against her chest. Y/N's breathing was slow and even, her face relaxed in a way that Wanda rarely ever got to see. A stray strand of hair had fallen across her closed eyes, and Wanda brushed it aside with the gentlest of touches.

For a long moment, she simply watched her. The sight filled her with a peace she wasn't sure she'd ever experienced before.

For years, Wanda's life had been carefully organized chaos. Every hour of every day belonged to someone or something else. There were deadlines to meet, investors to satisfy, employees depending on her, responsibilities that never seemed to end. She had become so accustomed to carrying everything alone that she stopped noticing the weight of it.

And yet, looking back now, Wanda realized she hadn't been carrying it alone at all.

Y/N had been there helping her all along. Not in grand, dramatic ways. But in the quiet ways that mattered.

Somewhere between early morning meetings, late-night deadlines, and years spent working side by side, Y/N had become woven into the fabric of Wanda's life so completely that Wanda had stopped noticing where her own routines ended and Y/N began.

That realization should have startled her. Instead, it felt right. Like finally seeing a picture that had been out of focus for years.

Wanda's gaze drifted to the engagement ring resting on her hand. A smile tugged at her lips.

The proposal still felt impossible.

Because despite everything that had happened over the past few days, despite the lies, the investigation, and the uncertainty waiting for them outside this room, one truth remained impossibly clear.

Their love is real. The only thing that hurt was knowing how they had gotten here.

A small ache settled beneath Wanda's ribs as she thought about it. She wished their story had started differently. She wished she'd asked Y/N to dinner instead of asking for help, wished their first kiss hadn't arrived tangled together with desperation and fear, and wished she'd realized sooner what Y/N had become to her. There were so many moments she would have changed if she'd been given the chance.

But wishing didn't change reality.

And the reality was that every twist of fate, every mistake, every impossible decision had still led her here, to this moment. Somehow, despite everything, they had still found their way to each other.
