Author's Pov:

He had stayed away.

For a year, he had watched her from a distance, keeping himself in check, forcing himself to resist the pull that drew him to her like a moth to a flame. Even though he was in college working hard, he had made his presence known, had edged her in whispers, made it clear that she was his. But he hadn't contacted her directly.

It wasn't out of kindness. It was because he feared himself. They were very young, immature and feared what he would do to her if he gave in too soon. His feelings for Anu had never been simple.

They were dark, twisted, possessive. He knew it wasn't love-it was an obsession. One that could drive people insane. Drive her insane.

He wanted to own her. Possess her. He might sound like a crazy pathetic guy but that's the truth.

Every glance she gave to another man ignited something violent in him. He was confused about his feelings. He never had these kinda emotions sprawling out, yet with Anu he couldn't help.

Every time she avoided his presence, it only made him want to chase her more. He had promised himself he would meet her regularly, keep her close, and remind her of who she belonged to. But he didn't. He had failed. He wanted to take care of his father's empire, that old man was always on his back. He didn't want to but he couldn't deny it either moreover he wanted to give her some space to register that she's his.

He knew whatever he was feeling for her was dangerous that's why he stayed away. But seems like the universe was against it, by bringing her back to his life.

A hell broke, the day he saw her in his college hall, the damn self control he had on him started to lose. He didn't expect her to join there. He was shocked, the person he wanted to stay away from was near him. Too close. It was easy when she was away but seeing her near him was a torture.

Vikram knew she was his distraction, a very beautiful distraction, one he was trying very hard to resist.

Because if he got too close, he knew wouldn't stop.

So he stayed back again. Watching. Waiting.

Controlling his need to be close to her and mold her into something that belonged solely to him. But she wasn't making it easy. Her innocence, her defiance, her fear-it was all a drug to him.

That year wasn't just about watching from afar. No, he made sure her world was surrounded by him, even when she didn't see it.

He controlled who spoke to her. He made sure no man got too close. The few guys who tried to befriend her? They mysteriously disappeared, left the college, transferred, or simply became too scared to acknowledge her presence.

He didn't just follow her. He infiltrated every part of her life-her college, her home, her family.

Mainly her family. His father was already under his charm.

He had been patient. He had played the long game and his patience was wearing thin. He had waited long enough. Two years of restraint, of watching from the shadows, of keeping his distance while ensuring no one else got too close.

His patience had worn thin the minute he caught from falling and just like that he kissed her. It was not what he planned. When he held her so close he couldn't control his urges.
