This book is slow-burn as you all know and I want to build-up their past connection before we move back to present.
I hope you all are ok with it.
Anu's Pov:
"Princess" I shut my eyes as I stopped walking briefly in irritation, his voice echoed across the corridor. I could feel heads literally turned around to look at us, making me smile awkwardly as I resumed walking faster.
"Hey princess, wait up!" Unfortunately he caught up with me making me curse under my breathe. I never ever wanted anyone's attention but this guy really knew how to make a scene out of nowhere.
"Why do you scream my name like that?" I muttered when he finally caught up beside me
"I never called you" he said making me glare at him, "What? Well apparently I called 'princess' not your name and you hate that name didn't you? Or finally you're ok with me calling you princess?" He said making me slow down.
Wait a damn minute!
Urgh! What the hell? Why did I even react to that?
This guy really knows how and when to shut me up.
"Whatever just stop screaming and calling me around" I said waving him off to go away.
"Urgh!" he scoffed, "well because you walk like a thief" he hissed making me stop on my tracks abruptly.
'Theif' I turned towards him with disbelief all over my face.
"Yes, princess. All you do is play hide and seek as if the police are chasing you."
I was too stunned to speak, 'wtf is he sprouting' I seriously don't have energy to keep up with his nonsense, "I walk normally like a human, unlike few people."
"No," he said seriously, "you speed walk sometimes... no I mean all the time like an exhausted mother of three."
I stared at him, "What do you eve-"
He smiled sheepishly, "Ok, fine sorry but next time when you see me you should talk to me or wait for me or at least slow down. Don't act like you don't know me or like... like I'm a stranger. I hate it, so promise me now" he said holding his pinky finger despite myself, I rolled my eyes.
Kian grinned proudly, like irritating me was his greatest achievement in life.
"Woah! Did you see that? That expression right there," he pointed dramatically at my face completely forgetting his previous statement.
"So you do have it in you. Just need a little push i guess. It's very healthy. I mean it's much better than your usual funeral face."
"I don't."
"You absolutely do." I shook my head and continued walking, and this time he matched my pace quietly instead of talking nonstop.
That was another thing about him.
He somehow understood silence.
Not everyone did. Most people tried too hard to fill it. But him.. Kian could joke endlessly one moment and then simply walk or sit beside me the next without forcing conversation. It was strangely comforting.
And on other hand at home, things were still... broken.
No matter how much time passed, I couldn't fix what happened between me and my parents.
