First Person POV:
It was the following morning after the raid. After having been very effectively healed Sir Nighteye had been moved to another, more basic hospital room. Much like the other heroes and hero students from the raid, he had stayed overnight. Though, in his case, it was more about medical observation.
I stood by the room's large window, in my UA school uniform. I was taking in the rising sun, as it brightened up the city. With every fiber of my being, I was appreciating the simplicity of it. Though I wasn't open for discussion, every aspect of the raid, from the build up, to the execution, and then the aftermath, had left me feeling...greatly drained.
"You almost always look as though you're narrating to yourself." Nighteye said, walking in.
"How's Mirio?" I asked. I had failed to turn away from the window or even express an emotion on my face.
"He's...good. Surprisingly, he's very energetic and optimistic." Nighteye replied. I looked over my shoulder in mild disbelief.
"That's odd for a guy who's just lost his quirk." I said.
"Yes, but it's not odd for Mirio. His enthusiasm for life has always radiated from him, even in the worst of times. And I seem to recall a certain other hero student who rarely keeps to himself." Nighteye stated, seriously.
"I'm fine. I just... I need time. To process everything. To get used to how things are going to be from now on..." I spoke, honestly. Nighteye moved inward from the doorway and stood by his work study student, with his hands resting at his side.
"And what would this major change be? That your quirk is, in fact, Restore, and not Refill?" Nighteye asked.
"There's more to it than that." I simply said. I turned around and headed toward the door.
"You know, Y/N, speaking not as your superior, but instead as the man whose life you recently saved, you should focus more on the positives. Whatever extenuating circumstances there may be regarding your true power, and its origins - a young girl is safe. Everyone from the raid - is safe. Do not forget that." Nighteye reassured.
"Ironic, huh? You telling me to focus on the now...while I'm thinking about the future. Normally, you're the one stuck looking ahead." I pointed out. As I entered the hallway, I got on an elevator and eventually reached the lobby. An event that occurred after saving Nighteye once again replayed in my head.
Flashback:
"Come on. Come on! Why isn't this working!" I angrily complained.
"This is why I advised everyone not to get their hopes up. For L/N, it's almost like a whole new way of using his quirk. And a destroyed quirk factor is an incredibly complex thing..." Recovery Girl began.
"I can do it! I can do it. I just... (yells in frustration)" I said.
"Y/N." Izuku said. He placed an ungloved hand on my shoulder. I brought my own hand to my forehead in great stress.
"Why can't...I bring back Mirio's quirk...?" I cried.
End of Flashback:
I reached the hospital lobby to find Izuku, Aizawa, and Recovery Girl all gathered in front of a wall mounted TV.
"Police state that the League of Villains attacked the convoy as it was on route to a criminal hospital, where the Hassaikai head would receive treatment, under heavy guard. In the process of the attack, the various Police escorts were left badly injured. And Snatch, the Sand Hero, who was also escorting, was killed. Police officials are calling this incident one of their worst failures in recent years. With even Kai Chisaki, himself, being found with both his hands having been brutally cut off." a news anchor explained. Izuku and I stood watching in disbelief.
