MARCS POV
⚠️WARNING: cursing, fluff?

Note: I put some places in London in this chapter. I did my research on all these places so I'm not just randomly putting things in here. But if I get something wrong I apologize 😭. (I am not from the UK)

MARC'S POV

I leaned back in the sofa in disbelief at the situation that was at hand. I let this criminal get away. And with a priceless jewel no less. The jewel where I found...her. I know she'll be heartbroken to hear that it's gone. This cat is probably selling it off the black market for all I fucking know. I grabbed my phone and began to look up black cat online, seeing that this is the first time I'm even hearing of her and considering how big of a crime she's committed this time, there's no way she hasn't stolen something this big before. I felt the vibration of my phone go off as I saw the text from Layla.

"Hey, you see the news?"

I opened the message and quickly responded.

"Yea just did. I tried to catch her last night at the museum. She's quick. I've never seen anyone as agile as she was."

"Did she hurt you?"

"No, she never laid a finger on me. She never even tried to strike."

"What do you mean never striked??"

"Exactly bow it sounds. She didn't try and land a punch or anything. She did one blow that landed in my side but that was it. And even with just one attack it still hurt like a bitch."

"You get any facial features or anything about her?"

"Not really. She wore all black and had a mask with white glow-"

I stopped mid text when I realized the description. White glowing eyes...that isn't humanly possible without powers. She's isn't just a regular person, she's an avatar...As I looked back at my phone I slowly began to delete what I was writing.

"No, didn't see anything that would help. If something pops up I'll let you know."

The blue bubbles slowly appeared and disappeared and she wrote on the other end.

"Great. I'll do the same."

I replied with a thumbs up and closed my phone. The thoughts of the idea of an avatar stealing such an artifact raced through my mind. It was like trying to piece a puzzle with only having one of the hundred that is left. This wasn't just any type of robbery either, seeing that the only thing stolen was the necklace, it was planned. Most robbers would go for anything and everything if it looked expensive...but not her. She only took an interest to that necklace. Which makes it even more strange to me considering there was a necklace made out of complete diamonds right next to it. So if the value has nothing to do with it, then what does? And it's not like I could discuss this with him either. He doesn't even know that I snuck out last night to go on patrol. And I've been on his ass about sticking together and it'll look shitty on my end if I didn't even follow my own rules. I glanced behind me to see Santiago on his phone, scroll away with an empty plate in front of him and a half empty glass of water. I must've blanked out for a bit if he's already eaten his food that fast. I then decided to get up and put my dishes in the sink before heading to my room.
