There was a knock at my door, I almost missed it. I ran down the stairs, past the living room and to the front door. I swing the door open just to find nobody there. Was I hearing things? The cold winter wind blew in my face, snow was flying in my hallow house, shivers came across me. I could almost feel a person near. Was someone once there?

"H-hello?" I say loud enough to hear from the sidewalk. Silence. Nothing changed, the snow was still heading into my house like it was leaving with me. It was so cold I could not leave the door open any longer.

Just as I was shutting the door, a hand hit it hard. Making a loud banging noise fill the house and knocking me to the floor. My hand was holding my chest when I saw who it was. I rolled my eyes catching my breath.

"Jesus Christ, what are you doing! You scared the hell out of me Chelsea!" I gasped for air.

"Oh my God! You should've seen your expression!! Priceless!!" She laughed helping me up from the floor. She gave me hug as I was pushing her away.

"Yeah, I bet it was so worth it. It's not like I had a heart attack or anything. No, go ahead and laugh at your dying best friend." I'm the type of person who gets scared easily. A dog bark could get me going. I can barely not be scared of anything.

"So who is all coming? You said your parents are out of town, right? Where is that sexy piece of ass you call your brother?" She flips her hair over her shoulder while throwing her coat on the couch. All I thought was gross.

Chelsea Florida. The popular girl everyone wants to be, everyone wants to date. She's class President and very academic. She won prom queen for junior year and is going for it this year. Flawless skin, smooth silky hair, big boobs and butt. Everything a girl and guy wants. I am actually pretty jealous.

"Um.. Jacob should be coming. Also Zach and Roseanna. I should probably go and get some snacks. Jeremy and Kyle ate all the food before they left." I put one arm after another in my thin coat and toss on my grey Uggs. I grab my wallet from the kitchen counter.

"Aw, no, Jeremy isn't coming back?" She looked up from her phone making a crying face. " Want me to come?" She goes back to looking at her phone. Probably texting her boytoy Alex.
"Ugh.. No. I'm okay, someone should stay here and listen for the others. I'm just going to walk. The gas station is down the street." I open the door and smile.

"Say hi to Randy for me!" Chelsea hollers as I shut the door.

It was cold and dark. Full moon was out today, it was beautiful. I could look at them forever. I was always into the moon and the stars. They were all different in their own ways.

It took me less then ten minutes to walk to the gas station. I walked in as someone was walking out. The nice elderly man held the door for me and I thanked him. I looked around the little building and see only one other person, then Randy behind the counter. I worked here also so I could get a discount on the snacks but also because the next store with actual food was about another mile up the street. It was too cold to walk that far.

"Pack of reds." His voice was quiet and smooth. His hood was up so I couldn't his face. I knew nearly everyone in this town and he was unfamiliar to me. Maybe he's just crashing here for the night.

I get all the snacks and drinks I need and by the time I get to the counter the strange man was walking out. Its a shame I didn't see him face.

"Hey Randy. How's it going?" He laughed as I place the items down.

He started scanning them and placing them in light green bags. "Not to bad, not to bad. How about yourself?"

"Good. Chelsea says hey." He laughed again.

"Tell her I said the same back. Fourteen fourty-fourty please." I hand him one ten dollar bill and a five.

"Keep the change. Have a good night Randy!" I grab the two bags and walk to the doors.

"You too hun. Be safe out there!" He says in a friendly manner. I walk out and in the corner of my eyes I see a black blur next to me. I turn and see the same man from the counter inside. I saw he was having trouble getting his lighter to work. I don't think he is use to this kind of weather. I smiled.

I walk up to him and cover the cigarette pulling the lighter out of his hand. "Here." I light up the lighter, it shoots out sparks at first then flames come flying out. It burns the white paper first then the rest. He inhales then pulls away bowling out the smoke.

"Thanks.." He took back his lighter.

"Passing through or something?" I put my hands in my coat pockets.

"It's not any of your information but no. I just moved here." I puased. Not because he had attitude but because he said he moved here.

"Why here?" My voice got soft.

"Why not?" He stuck the cigarette between his lips and inhaled again.

"Well, nobody really moves in. They normally move out of the town" I bite my lip.

He blew the smoke out of his noise and looked at me. "Is that a bad thing?" Some smoke still lingered out from in between his pink lips. Why did I find him good looking? His facial hair, his gauges, the way he smoked that cigarette.

I then realized I was starring. "Oh, um.. No I guess not? I'm Kat, we all know each other around here."

"I don't except to talk to anyone while I'm here." His voice was stern.

"The least a girl can get for lighting that thing is a name." I saw a smirk rise on his face. But silence. Okay then. He was going to so hard to read.

"Neil." He said softly looking down at his cancer stick. I bit my lip wondering about him, he had such a beautiful name. I wanted to hear him say it again.

"What?"

"The name is Neil." Neil. His eyes met my gaze. We kinda just took a moment. He wasn't normal. Like he was hiding something. Something he wanted no one to know. But I kind of wanted to know.

"I've gotta go now." I said still looking at him. He nodded. "See you around Neil." I smiled at him and he gave me the same smirk back. I turned around and walked home.
