"Ugh.. Monday morning..." I yawn hitting the dismiss button on my alarm clock. I rubbed my eyes and stretched before standing up and walking to my window. I open the blinds slowly seeing the sun for the first time. I yawn one more time before heading to my phone. I see I have two texts messages. And I didn't ever think it would be Neil.

10:45 p.m

Kat right? Hey it's Neil.

11:02 p.m

Still up? Text me soon. I still wanna get you to show me around.

I smiled softly, he wrote me. I clicked the small rectangular box that was going to send my message to him. I sat there for a minute, thinking of what to say. What should I say to that?

"Kat!" I scream as Jeremy barges into my dark room. My breathing got heavy as I waited for him to talk, my heart was beating out of my chest. "I'm late for work! Do you have a few dollars I could use for my break? I'll pay you back Friday." I nod pointing to my purse on my dresser. He dug out my wallet and handed it over to me. I pulled out a ten dollar bill giving it to him. "Thanks. See you later." He quickly leaned over the bed and kissed my forehead. "I love you baby sis."

"Love you too." I watched him hurry out of the room. Then I hear the front door open then close. I get up slowly, feeling alone now. Because I was alone, in a huge house. A loud buzzing noise went off and I turn to look at my phone. It was a number not saved in my phone. I normally wouldn't answer to those types of numbers, but I answered it. I couldn't figure out why.

"Hello?"

"Kat?" their voice was scratchy and quiet.

"Depending on who's asking?"

"This is bob, I have your parents. If you want them back you'll meet me at the gas station parking lot." I didn't answer.. "I'm kidding.. It's Neil. Sorry about that." a small smile grew across my cheeks.

"Oh hey.. How are you?" I bit my lip lightly starting to blush.

"Uh.. good I guess?" He cleared his voice. "I was just calling to see if you got my texts last night. I know I kinda sent them a little late." I walked out of my room, slowly down the stairs and last the kitchen.

"Yeah, I got it." I was told by Lisa, my biological mother to always leave a guy hanging. I was only six when she told me that. You could say I remember almost everything my mother told me, even at that young of an age.

"So? What do you say? Wanna show me around today?" I bit my lip again, harder. "Wanna know somethin'?"

I nodded even though he couldn't see, "sure."

"I can tell you're biting your lip right now. What did I tell you about that, hm?" I stop while leaning against the counter top.

"I was not, but I guess I could show you around for a little. Where do you wanna meet?"

"Your place." I laugh thinking it was a joke, but the other line was dead. "I'm serious. Not the have sex, but so I could pick you up. I know you don't have a car and it's cold out. I wouldn't want you to walk in the cold."

"Yeah, that's cool then. I'll text you the address. When, though?"

"In an hour or so. make sure you wear warm clothes." And that was it, he hung up, no goodbye. I let out a deep breath, probably one I was holding in for the whole phone call. I rub my eyes gently before hearing a huge bang out in the front. I jump up as my heart started to beat faster. What was that?

I slowly start to walk out of the kitchen debating whether or not to go open the front door. Uncontrollably I walk to the door. I didn't know what I was doing, but I couldn't feel my body and then another bang happened. I jumped once again.

Then there was a knock at the door, then a bang at the door. I swallowed hard. Step by step I slowly make my way to the door. I pulled on the door knob only to see my father carrying bags and bags of clothes. I smile quickly taking bags from his arms to help.

"Oh thank god, I thought my arms were about to fall off!" I laughed at my dad placing the bags on the couch in the living room. I jog back to the front door to go help my mother with her stuff. But when I got to the door a giant dog was blocking me.

"Nanook!" I dropped to my knees as he flung his body to me, licking me all over my face and neck. Laughing I pulling on his fur gently making him look into my eyes. "I missed you boy!" I got a bark in return. I rubbed his weak spot, which was behind his neck.

"You can play with him later please come help me, Kat." I nodded standing up, Nanook whines spinning in a circle.

"Later boy, I promise." He rolled around in the snow looking at me then barks. "I know, I know! I missed you too!" He slowly walked into the house while sneezing. I laugh going to help. "Do you mind if I ask why you're home early?" I raise one eyebrow pulling out a suitcase from the trunk.

"Well the screwed up our reservation at theater. Why? Did you have something planned?" She looks over to me from the back seats. I shake my head then remember Neil.

"Oh actually I was going to show my new friend around the town."

"Alone?" Her voice got weak hearing that.

"Yes, alone. Is that bad or something?"

"No, it's a boy?" I laughed nodding my head while walking into the house.

"Kat!" I stick my head out of the door. "Don't tell your father, he'll have a heart attack."
