Criminal -Neil Westfall-

Chapter Two

"I'm home!" I shout into my house. Shoes were scattered all over by the door. I kick them to the side while sliding my boots off. I hear screaming coming from the basement.

I place the bags on the counter and take my coat off. When I hang it on the coat hooks I hear more screaming. I jog down the basement stairs and see everyone playing ps4.

"Kat!!" Jacob yells.

"Heyy!" I hug everyone and sit down watching them play. This was going to be a long night with them.

The next morning..

"Kat, wake up." I open my eyes to someone shoving my arm.

"Jeremy I'm trying to sleep." I moan into the pillow. He pulls the blanket off and shoves me again.

"You have to work soon, yeah?" I hear him picking up trash around the basement floor. "How many people were here last night. Looks like a tornadoe hit down here."

I sit up slowly with my eyes half open. I run my fingers through my hair. "What time is it?"

"11 O'Clock, you have to shower? Go. Come on. I'll clean for you." He picks up the soda cans and throws them away. He was a great brother and we always had each others back.

"Thank you Jer." I yawn walking up the stairs. I turn on the shower and strip naked. The hot water hitting my pale smooth skin starts to walk me up. I washed my body trying not to get the water hit my hair. It was to cold for wet hair and I didn't have time to dry it.

I wear a simple pair of blue skinny jeans and put on my green work shirt. After that I put my hair up in a messy bun.

"Jeremy!" I hear foot steps coming from the hall. A knock was at my door. "Come in."

"Did you call my name?" He popped his head.

"Have you seem my phone by any chance?" I shuffled around my room looking for it. He shook his head. I sighed. Where did it go?? "I need to go, if you find it come to the gas station please."

"Okay." Was his response. I walk downstairs putting on my shoes. I thought I would just buy something there to eat. Jeremy tosses me my wallet, like he was reading my mind.

"Thanks. I'll see you when I get home." He waved as I was walking out.

The clouds were gray and the sun was covered. It was depressing, I felt longly today. I kept my hands in my pant pockets. There was no point bringing a coat when I'll be inside all day.

I kicked some snow before walking into my stupid job. Why do I work here? Oh yeah, to make my father happy. Jeremy can do anything but daddy's little girl has to work for her money. Ugh! That frustrates me. 

"Kat, you're late." The old man behind the counter was scanning a coke bottle. I rolled my eyes.

"I slept in. I'm sorry." I said softly. Man I'm tired of him.

"That's not an excuse." I'm done. I walk behind to the back room. I clock in before going back out there.

"You can leave now."

"One step ahead of you." The old man says while leaving. I shook my head. I was alone at the point.

3:35 p.m.

I hear the bell from from the door. I come out from back room.

"Hey, it's you." He points and gave me that smirk. I smiled softly.

"Hello Neil." Neil. Neil. Neil. I can not get enough of his name.

"Pack of-"

"Reds. I know." I turn around to all the cigarettes behind me. I grab the ones he wants and tosses it on then counter. "Six eighty-six, sir."

He hands me a ten dollar bill. I type it into the register then the box popped out. I dug out the changed I owed him and looked up at him while closing the register.

"Three fourteen is your change." I hand it to me and he takes it. He was just looking at me. I bite my lip. "Yes?"

"I just don't want to leave for some reason." I blushed looking down at the counter. He reached over and put his hand on my cheek, I looked up. He dragged his thomb across my bottom lip. My heart started pounding.

"Don't do that." He whispered. The door flew open and Neil quickly pulled his arm back to himself. "Do you want to hang out sometime?"

"Wha-"

"Kat I found your phone!" Jeremy  says across the room. I heard Neil whisper something, what did he say?

"See you around," There was a pause. "Kat." He smiled and walked out with his pack and his change. I watch him leave, not know what he said.

"It was by-" I interrupted Jeremy.

"Excuse me Jer." I run outside and see Neil walking down the street. "Neil!" I holler at him. He turns around and smiles again. As I walked up to him i could not believe I was doing this?

"Yes?" He walks closer to me.

"Wanna do something sometime? I know that's a little forward, I just thought since you are new here I could show you around?" He pulls out his phone and unlocks it. Neil hands me the phone.

"Number." I type it in for him and put my name in. I liked the way he said my name. "What?"

"What? Did I say that out loud?" I was bright red! I just knew it! Ugh.

"I like when I say your name too. I'll text you tonight." He took back his phone and turned around. I bite my lip again.

I run back inside because it was freezing out. I see Jeremy standing there smiling. My cheeks turned bright pink. I can not believe I did that! What was i thinking? What if they found out I left the gas station? And for a guy too!

"So who was that?" He smirked and all I could think about was Neil's smirk.

"He is new to town." I say going back behind the counter taking my phone from his hand.

"What? Moved here?" He questioned.

"I know! I said the same thing!"

I get home towards 9 o'clock. I never got that text from Neil. I was waiting for it all afternoon. I thought: maybe he would write me early. Nope.

My parents still weren't home and I was to tired to see anyone. Jeremy was in the basement gaming and I didn't want to bother him. He's really into that stuff, hates to be bothered while he's playing.

I skip dinner and head to bed early. I changed into grey sweatpants and a black tank top. I redid my messy bun, took off my makeup. I jumped into bed.

Would he ever text me? Was he just saying he would? I bet I was to forward. Ughh.
