Neil
"Hello?" I hear a beautiful voice through the phone that brings a smile to my face.
"Morning babe. I wanted to check in?"
"Mhm." I knew I woke her up from her sleep and I clear my throat. She never wrote back to my texts last night so I called. She didn't pick up either. So I called her this morning when I woke up.
"I got to here safe. I wanted to tell you I love you Kat. Okay?" She didn't say it back which hurt but I understood why she didn't. I fucked over our whole relationship in the past year. I knew it would never be the same.
"Good to know. Neil, I'm tired. Tell me how the funeral goes okay? I mean, I know it will be sad but you know what I meant." I nod listening to her weak voice through the phone. My heart sank deeper and deeper once she said that to me. I knew the death of Tyler was on my hands and everyone else will see it that way.
I hang the phone up and sat up. I sigh loud looking around my old room. I was back in my home in Bismark. No on knew I was in town yet. I would show up this morning and surprise everyone. It was better if they didn't know so they don't act different as they see the police nearly everyday. I knew things got bad after I left. And it was all because of me.
I got dressed and ready. I didn't put on my cut knowing if I did people would notice and I would draw attention to myself. But I would put it on once I got to the club. I didn't bring my bike for the same reason. I wasn't so sure about it but it was the right thing to do. Tyler was Josh's best friend since even before they were in the club. I sigh again not knowing how to explain it to Josh. I rub my temple getting a huge headache. I knew this would make me untrustworthy.
I pull up to the club house which was on a busy street. Instead of parking in the front I go and park in the back of the building. I couldn't take the risk of anyone seeing me. Even if they didn't know who I was or what I've done in my past. It made history in this town. I sit in the car for a minute trying not to rush this. I knew everyone was here from seeing all the bikes parked in front and back. I look around before getting out. I put my black hood along with my cut on and walked in. No one was in the kitchen at the moment.
I walk through the kitchen door seeing everyone sitting there either talking with each other or on their electronics; phones, computers. I stood there and Trevor looked up from his phone and smiled big, "NEIl!" I give a weak smile and walk up to everyone who was now standing. I saw every brother that came up to Jackson's funeral. They hugged me, Matty, Trevor, Oliver, Kevin, Kellin, Patty, Justin, nearly everyone. The last person who hugged me was Josh. I hugged him tighter then everyone else knowing the lose he just had.
"Tyler should be here shortly to see you, what are you doing here?" Matty ask crossing his arms. I look down at my feet now knowing it was time to tell everyone.
"I have to tell you guys something, everyone sit please." No one knew what was going on. Josh stood there crossing his arms like Matty did before he sat. Josh stayed there. Standing there across me from the room. I breath out slowly. I sat in an open chair playing with my fingers.
"I got a call from Andy last night," Everyone started chatting and wouldn't stop talking. "Enough! Please. Let me talk." Silence threw across the room. "He told me to give him Kat or he'll kill-"
"Tyler." Josh said staring at me. I nod.
"What happened?" Trevor asked while rubbing his arm with his other hand on his other arm. I sigh again.
"I told him I wouldn't do it and what happened was-"
"You let a brother die." Josh didn't move, his voice was stronger then my weak one.
"No, Josh, if you would listen-"
He kept cutting me off, "You let Tyler die over another person? What the fuck?"
"Josh! It's not like that! I didn't think he would-"
"You didn't think Andy would kill him?! After he killed your ten year old fucking brother?! What kind of president are you!" No one stopped him, everyone just let him speak and yell at me. I sat there trying to talk but he kept cutting me off. So I gave in until he was finished. He walked closer and closer to me just spilling words of anger. I understood why. I let him until he shoved me. I stood straight up.
"I might let you scream at me but I will not let you touch me like that ever! I still am president!" I stood tall in his face.
He let out a weak laugh after how upset he was. He never even broke a tear like some of the other brother's who knew Tyler well. "You think you are fit to be president after all of this?! After keeping Andy in the club knowing he was going to do something?! After all of this? After Tyler?! You don't deserve to be president!" With that he grabbed a hold of the patch that read president and ripped it off of my vest. Everyone's mouths dropped to the floor not seeing that coming. "FUCK YOU NEIL! YOU SHOULDN'T EVEN BE HERE! JASON MADE A HUGE MISTAKE MAKING YOU PRESIDENT!!!!" He stormed off leaving the patch on the floor along with their jaws.
