Now that it was settled we were getting a new roof I decided to slip on my Nike's and go down to the cornfields.
I love the cornfields. Its just amazing. Running through the long golden leaves. Jumping off haystacks. I love it.
I sat on one of the haystacks and fiddled with my necklace. All of a sudden I heard a tractor near by. It was cutting the corn. I ran up to the tractor and stood in front of it. I banged on the front of it and a man jumped out.
"What do you think you're doing?" I shouted at him. "We are creating the worlds biggest emoji" he said looking quite pleased with himself.
"Well you're not aloud to its not your property" I stated. "Is it yours" he questioned. I was lost for words. "That's what I thought" he said again after I failed to reply. "But there is something of mine in the cornfields" I said to the young lad. I was being truthful.
*flashback*
We walked along the cornfields feeling the breeze hit us. I'm usually happy when I come hear but I'm not. I'm 12 years old and we are burying my father. He loved this place. He wanted to buy it but then cancer got him.....everywhere. My mum and I were leading the crowd whilst my two older brothers, Josh and Dylan, carried my father's coffin. We laid him down in the centre of the field where we were allowed to bury him.
I laid a white rose on his coffin along with my letter to him.
Dear daddy,
I love you. I love you with all my heart. When I was 9 you found your best suit ruined. Josh took the blame. You slapped him. It was your wedding suit and I was the one who spilt yogurt all down it not my brother. It should have been me who you slapped not him. I'm sorry.
Love Lucy xox*flashback over*
You see my father was buried in the maze if they go and dig it all up. Well they will find him and send him to a church to get buried. That can not happen.
"You can't dig it up" I shouted back at the man. He walked over and pulled me towards the tractor and pointed at a sheet of paper. "You see this, this means I can" he said getting agitated.
I slapped him. "You have no idea what this place means to me" I said. "Pursuade me then. What is so important in this field" he said.
"My father" I said and walked off.
I walked off to the centre of the field and spoke to my father. "I'm sorry daddy they won't go." I started fiddling with the necklace he gave me. "This man is going to come in and dig this place up so he can make the worlds biggest emoji. Stupid isn't it. If you'd had known you would have started a petition or something crazy like that. I'm failing in maths. I know right. Crazy. I got an A in Latin. Remember when I told you about Latin. I love you so much" I finished. Unaware of the man behind me I stepped back. I quickly turned around and looked into his deep blue eyes.
"I didn't realise you're father was buried here. The names Joe." He said taking out his hand.
I shrugged him off and walked off pushing his shoulder slightly.
