The sun hung low in the sky, casting a warm golden hue over Hogwarts as the students bustled about, eager for the weekend. In the Gryffindor common room, Oliver Wood was busy with preparations for the upcoming Quidditch match. Unfortunately, his friend Fred Weasley had been concocting some mischief of his own, brewing a love potion for a prank on Angelina Johnson.
"C'mon, Oliver! Just a taste! What's the harm?" Fred had insisted, grinning mischievously as he held out a small vial shimmered with a pinkish liquid. "Think of it as... a pre-game ritual!"
As usual, Oliver, being the ever-dedicated captain, hesitated. "I don't have time for this, Fred," he remarked, eyeing the potion warily. "We've got a match to win!"
"Oh, come on! Just a tiny sip! It'll boost your confidence!" Fred pushed, and before Oliver knew it, the vial was tilted, and he gulped down the potion.
It didn't take long for the effects to kick in.
Minutes later, as he stepped onto the Quidditch pitch, Oliver felt an unusual warmth wash over him, intensifying with each glance at Y/N, who was seated in the stands, cheering loudly for Gryffindor. The way her hair glowed in the sunlight and the brightness of her smile sent his heart racing.
"Oliver! Focus!" Lee Jordan's voice broke through his thoughts, but all he could see was Y/N, her laughter filling the pitch like a sweet melody. He flew higher, his heart pounding—not from the thrill of the game but from the growing feelings for her that seemed to bloom uncontrollably.
After the match—Gryffindor had won, much to Oliver's satisfaction—he landed on the ground, adrenaline still coursing through him. Without thinking, he sprinted toward the stands, eyes locked on Y/N.
"Y/N!" he called, his voice rising above the cheers of the crowd.
As soon as he reached her, he could barely contain the impulse within him. "You were amazing! Did you see that save I made?" he exclaimed, his enthusiasm palpable.
"Of course! You were brilliant, Oliver!" she replied, smiling at him with her bright eyes sparkling with pride. But then, Oliver stepped closer, a sudden wave of possessiveness washing over him.
"Y/N," he said, his tone lowering, "I need you to know something." He reached for her hand, interlacing his fingers with hers as if the simple touch grounded him.
"What is it?" she asked, confused but intrigued by the intensity in his gaze.
"I think you're incredible. I mean, absolutely amazing." He took a deep breath, leaning in closer as his heart raced. "I've felt like this for a while, but—"
Before he could finish, a burst of impulsive energy propelled him forward, capturing her lips with his. The kiss was intoxicating, filled with an urgency he had never felt before. To his surprise, Y/N responded eagerly, her fingers threading through his hair as she deepened the kiss, melting away the confusion.
When they finally pulled away, both breathless, Y/N looked at him with wide eyes. "Whoa, Oliver! That was... unexpected!"
"Unexpectedly good, right?" he asked, unable to hold back his grin. The potion's effect had turned him into a romantic whirlwind, and he couldn't get enough of her.
"Definitely," she admitted, her cheeks flushed. "But are you sure about this? I mean, you're acting a bit... different."
"I know it seems sudden," he began, his grip tightening around her hand. "But I've liked you for ages. Today, everything just feels... intensified. I want to be around you. All the time."
She chuckled lightly, amusement dancing in her eyes, but there was something deep in her gaze that spoke of deeper feelings. "Oliver, this isn't exactly a normal day for you."
"Normal's overrated," he declared, pulling her closer as if the space between them was unbearable. "Can't we just enjoy this? I've wanted to kiss you for forever, and today I finally did it! It feels right."
"Okay, okay. Just don't go overboard," she teased, her smile softening. But the way his gaze lingered on her lips made it clear he wasn't done.
Before she could react, he leaned in again, kissing her passionately as if the world around them had faded away, lost in the whirlwind of emotions that had erupted between them. Each kiss was fervent, filled with the magic of newfound feelings intertwined with the chaotic influence of the potion.
"I can't believe how much I want to be near you right now," he murmured between kisses, his hands gently cupping her face.
Y/N laughed softly, breaking the kiss for a brief moment. "Oliver, you're going to have to tone it down. I'm getting a bit overwhelmed here."
"Overwhelming is kind of my specialty at the moment," he countered playfully, leaning in once more and sealing his lips over hers. In that moment, he didn't care about anything else—just lost himself in the connection he had spent so long dreaming of.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow on the Hogwarts grounds, the two of them stood wrapped in each other's arms, the rest of the world forgotten, enchanted by the chemistry that had taken them both by surprise.
For Oliver, the love potion may have sparked it all, but perhaps something deeper had always been brewing beneath the surface.
