Olivers POV:
It was Saturday, and the sun poured through the castle windows, casting a warm glow over everything—a perfect day to try to reach out to Y/N. I felt a flicker of hope; maybe today would be the day I could break through the barrier she had erected around herself.
I made my way out of my dormitory and headed into the common room, scanning the familiar space for any sign of her. But there was no trace. The couch where she usually sat was empty, and the bustling chatter of my fellow Gryffindors felt unusually hollow without her laughter.
"Fred, George, have you seen Y/N?" I asked the twins, who were lounging on the couch, playing with a new trick wand that emitted colorful sparks.
"Last I saw her, she was walking through the corridor," Fred replied, glancing up. "Looked like she was headed outside."
"Thanks, I appreciate it!" I said, a sense of urgency propelling me forward.
I rushed out the door, my heart pounding with a mix of hope and concern. Outside, the air was fresh and inviting, filled with the sounds of laughter and the distant chirping of birds. It felt like the world was alive, vibrant and full of potential, but I knew Y/N wasn't sharing in that joy.
Bursting through the castle doors, I took a deep breath, scanning the grounds. I desperately hoped she wasn't too far gone, hidden away from everyone. I needed to find her and let her know that she still mattered, still belonged with us. As I stepped onto the grass, I took another deep breath, hoping I wouldn't find her alone. Instead, I held onto the hope that I could help bring her back from the shadows.
I searched everywhere, my heart racing as anxiety gripped me. Where could she be?
"Looking for Y/N?" a deep, booming voice called out from behind me. I turned to see Hagrid, his massive frame casting a shadow against the backdrop of the castle.
"Yeah, have you seen her?" I asked, desperation creeping into my voice. I needed any shred of information I could get.
"Oh, sure! Saw her just an hour ago," he replied casually, "headed towards the Forbidden Forest."
"The Forbidden Forest?!" Panic surged through me. Why would she go there? That place was filled with dangers that lurked in the shadows.
Hagrid seemed unfazed by my alarm. "Oh, no need to worry, Wood. She'll be just fine. Y/N knows her way around there. Besides, she doesn't go very far—she likes to visit with the Thestrals."
My worry eased just slightly at the mention of the Thestrals. They were magical creatures, majestic in their haunting beauty, and I knew they were also a source of comfort for those who understood the weight of loss.
"Glad to see she has something to keep her company," Hagrid continued, his tone becoming softer. "Poor child has been through so much these past months."
His words hung in the air, heavy with truth. I knew Y/N had struggled since her sister's death, and part of me respected her need for solitude, even while another part of me felt compelled to pull her back into the light. The Thestrals were a haven for her, but I couldn't help but worry that, in seeking solace from them, she was drifting further away from everyone else.
"I appreciate it, Hagrid," I managed, forcing my voice to remain steady. "I'll go check on her."
With a determined nod, I set off toward the edge of the forest, my thoughts racing. If Y/N was hiding there, I needed to remind her that she wasn't alone—not now, not ever, no matter how heavy the world had become for her.
I made my way to the edge of the Forbidden Forest, and as I paused, a shiver ran down my spine. The atmosphere felt thick and charged, a palpable tension clinging to the air. My stomach twisted with nerves as goosebumps erupted across my skin. How could Y/N willingly step into this shadowy realm? What secrets did the forest hold that drew her in—other than the Thestrals, of course?
