My eyes snapped open at a pair of hands grabbing me. I sat up, a hand over my mouth, and as my vision came into focus I found myself face to face with a masked man. Cry motioned my silence, and I realized that it wasn't even dawn yet, the sun was still down. As exhausted as I was, I understood and nodded. Cry went to move away but I caught his chin, moving up his mask a bit and kissing him lightly. He wanted to stay there, holding me, I could tell, but he reluctantly pulled away and headed to the elevator. I got up, getting dressed in the darker clothes that Cry set out for me, and lacing up my boots. I put my handgun in its holster, and grabbed a knife just in case.
I wandered into the elevator after Cry had gone downstairs, and when I had reached the lobby, he was silently shutting the door to the basement and Wilson's room. In his hand he had an old camera, one of them that spit out the pictures as soon as they were taken. He grinned at me, and motioned that I follow him. He walked outside, turning to the right and making our way the long way around to the back of M's HQ building. The walk was long, and Cry knew the cover of the dark would only hold for so long, so he sped it up by jogging a bit. The morning air was rather cold anyway, and I followed suit, allowing the movement to warm me.
We made it to the building, and Cry crouched down. We went to the back, moving silently along the wall while staying as close to the ground as we could. The darkness hid us, and we waited by the front doors until the guard watching them took his round to inspect the outside of the building. We snuck through the doors behind him before they closed, and moved along the wall in the dark lobby. Cry let me take the lead as I worked my way down to the basement, opening the door to the stairwell silently and closing it behind us just as quietly. We walked down swiftly, opening the door and peering around to make sure no one was in there. It was empty, and Cry stood up as I shut the door, gaping.
There was a large, empty shell sitting, half of it opened and several containers sitting around it. Some were labelled with compounds that even he didn't understand, but it wasn't hard to tell some of the explosive stuff apart. The shell itself was larger than Cry or I, standing at about 10 or 12 feet, and it was on a platform with wheels. There were several designs hung up around the walls, and several diagrams drawn from a drop point. The place labeled 'Ground Zero' was directly outside the building, and I realized now what it was.
"Its a bomb." Cry whispered before I could draw such confirmation, and he was standing on the opposing side of the room, taking pictures of everything. "They're going to drop it from the top of this building and let it blow up the city." I looked at the plans before swiftly joining him where he stood by a table. There was a journal labeling the different experiments they had done on it, and I showed it to Cry. He snapped pictures of most of the pages as I walked closer to the shell. It was something close to about 15 feet long, and it was painted with a large M on the side. Cry took a picture, and he shook his head at all of this.
It made me nauseous to see this going into plan. None of the members that weren't working on this project knew what was happening, and those who were knew that this meant they died too. It was a suicide mission, and for some reason they were willing to participate. Some part of me wanted to start sobbing, and another part wanted to storm out of the room and find M to shoot him myself, but instead I stood there. So many people were going to die if we didn't get moving.
"Felix." Cry's voice made me turn, and he was pointing to something next to him on the wall. I looked over at it, and it was a calendar. It had the goals of production on some of the days, and something three days from now was marked with a large, red circle. My eyes met Cry's behind his mask, and he swallowed roughly. "We have three days before this city doesn't stand anymore."
Suddenly, the door to the basement creaked open, and I grabbed Cry, throwing ourselves down and behind the large creation. Several pairs of feet walked into the room, speaking about the production, and I recognized M as he clapped his soldiers on the back for their build. I felt fear rising in my chest and threatening to steal all of breath away. We remained silent, scooting further and further back around as our visitors made their way in. We could see their feet from below, and after M did a small inspection, they all walked back out. Cry let out a small sigh, and went to move but I grabbed him. There was still a pair of feet in the room, facing the back of the bomb where we were hiding, and they weren't moving away like the others.
