Everything hurt. Every single part of my body felt as though it were sore, and I blinked my eyes open, afraid of doing that as well. I stared up at several pieces of pipe protruding from drywall, and I sat up rather slowly. I held a hand to my face as something ran into my eye, and wiped away blood. I was shaky, dazed, and rather confused. I realized then that I didn't have my mask, and turned to find it smashed into several pieces with a large piece of concrete nearby still clinging to some of the ceramic. I sighed, deciding that this wasn't the biggest of my concerns.

I had no broken bones, luckily, but my foot was stuck under a large pile of rubble and I was unable to move. I was bleeding from my forehead and a gash on my shoulder, but I was otherwise simply bruised thanks to the armor I wore. My muscles were stiff, and I knew that I had been asleep for several hours which didn't surprise me. I needed it after all, but this was not the way I was hoping to get it.

I turned, looking for Felix and finding him a few feet from me. He had a cut on his cheek, and looked to have bruises and minor cuts up and down his arms, but he was otherwise uninjured it seemed. I reached over, barely able to grasp him, and shook him gently. His eyes opened, and he sat up quickly, holding a hand to his head and looking around. He coughed up dust, and spit out what little saliva was in his mouth. I realized quickly that I too was parched, and being stuck here wasn't going to help.

We were in an office room that was upside down. It seemed that the building's base was not structurally sound, but the insides of it were and it merely trapped us underneath it and the several other ones the followed. We were safe for now. If anything, we could stay here to rest up a bit before moving and looking for a way out. I glanced over at Felix who still looked astounded. He looked at me somberly.

"I'm sorry for arguing with you," he whispered, and I instantly felt his guilt. I went to move towards him, forgetting that I was trapped and collapsed on the ground with a shout of pain. Felix was at my side in an instant, despite his face scrunching up against his own injuries.

"Its okay." I told him, holding his hand. "Don't worry about it.. I just didn't want to leave my mother behind." My voice was straining, but I didn't care. I turned back to the rubble, and gestured at it. "Help me?" I leaned back towards the first piece of concrete sitting dangerously on my ankle. With synchronized movements, we worked together to roll it from me. He helped to pull me out, and I groaned in pain. My ankle wasn't broken, thank goodness, but it was definitely sprained.

"Your mask." I turned at Felix's voice, and he stood, looking down at the fragments that were the remains of my mask, the same one that I had worn for years. I touched my face once more, softly, realizing that I would now be out in the open to everyone. Felix looked at me, crouching down and running his fingers softly over my features. His eyes traced me, and I tried swallowing but my throat was still dry.

"Do you have water?" I asked, and his eyes met mine for a split second before he stood and returned to where he had awoke. His bag was there, and he pulled a small canister from it, handing it to me. I figured that he was just as dehydrated, and so I took just enough to put feeling back into my mouth and tongue. I handed it to him, and he frowned at my small intake before copying me. There was no telling how long we would be in here, it might be better to preserve what we had.

I used the wall to stand and Felix's eyes instantly snapped over to me, watching my every move in case I fell back down. No doubt I was in pain, but we needed to move. I took one of the already broken pipes and ripped it from its stop. The concrete near it groaned but didn't move. It was sturdy, and I used to against my limp so that my foot wouldn't bear my weight. It felt a lot better to walk this way. I hobbled over to Felix, and he gave me an odd look as I leaned down to his stuff.
