End of the Outlaw Age

(Hey everyone, sorry for the insanely long break I have really just not been motivated much to write and busy with other life things like trying to find a job XD. Anyway this part will finish off chapter 6 of the game but I will be kind of skipping over certain parts so I don't ruin the game for people who have yet to play it and then we will move into a more free area to explore Simon and Sadie outside of the games storyline a bit. Hope you enjoy this part even if it's not as great as the others and as always thanks for the support <3.)

Simon arose from his bed the next morning, the camp was fairly busy and everybody had returned including Sadie who he could see as he got up for the day and let out a sigh of relief that she was back and she was okay, at least physically but he didn't have the balls to go and ask her how she was doing mentally because he also had a small gut feeling she would brush it off as she was fine even if she wasn't, that's just how she was.

Today was the day, Dutch's final plan was supposed to take place and the gang were going to rob one last train he said. Everybody was busy preparing that was still left in the camp that is, Dutch was plotting with Micah who seemed to have become his new second in charge along with two very shady looking friends of Micah's. Whilst others like Mary-Beth, Karen, Pearson and Reverend Swanson had all left already fearing their safety and lives if they had stuck around. 

Charles had left too as after a mission to steal oil bonds from an oil plant went wrong and Eagle Flies passed away, he and Arthur had returned the body to the Wapiti reservation and Charles offered to stay and help his people to pick their stuff and move to a safer land. Dutch had taken the rest on their robbery to which Simon had stayed at the camp with Tilly, Jack, Abigail and Miss Grimshaw. Sadie had gone with on the robbery and all Simon could do was pray for her safety so he decided to go for a ride to try clear his mind of his worries. 

Long story short, the robbery was a complete mess, the train didn't stop like it was supposed to at least according to Dutch's grand plan in Saint Denis and kept riding North forcing the gang to have to chase after it on horseback. John got shot during the robbery and fell off the train to which Dutch then turned back to try and look for him whilst the others continued with the robbery. Ultimately, it fell to Bill, Sadie and Arthur and one of Micah's friends to stop the train and rob it of the money sacks, which they did. They then all jumped off the train with as much money as they could  and were met by Dutch and the other gang members with their horses near the bridge they had exploded a while ago. "Where's John?" Arthur asked as he loaded the money bag onto the back of his horse whilst looking at Dutch with hurt, sad puppy dog eyes. "I tried..." Dutch responded before heading back to the camp with the others.

On the way back to camp they were met by Tilly with Jack on the back of her horse and the whole gang came to a halt. "They got her, they got Abigail. I tried but the Pinkertons grabbed her and I ran with Jack, Miss Grimshaw and Simon weren't there at the time but they are safe too. They took her to Annesburg." Tilly said, her voice shaken.

Dutch's brows furrowed and for second he looked to be contemplating a rescue until Micah spoke.  "She's just a girl, Dutch..they won't do nothing to her, but we, well me and the boys we think its best that we keep riding on this one." There was a moment of silence. "he's right..." Dutch said to which Arthur yelled dismounting from his horse in a last ditch effort to get through to his father figure "Dutch..!" 

"No Arthur, as much as it pains me to say it...he's right. Come on boys." Everyone then rode off to the camp except Sadie, Arthur and Tilly with Jack. Sadie then spoke up "Come on, Arthur...let's go get her, you and me is all we need." Arthur nodded slightly still in disbelief as he grabbed the money bag off his horse and placed it on the horse behind Tilly. "Tilly, listen you take this...take Jack to Copperhead Landing and wait there and Jack...don't worry son...we will get your mother back.." Tilly nodded and said her goodbyes to Arthur one last time and rode off before Arthur and Sadie rode off to Annesburg to recuse Abigail.

The two arrive in Annesburg and devise a plan, Sadie will go in to rescue Abigail whilst Arthur stays in the lighthouse and provides long range cover with a rifle, however things don't go according to plan and Sadie gets captured as she bursts into the warehouse to save Abigail forcing Arthur to go in. Ultimately he saves them Both and Agent Milton dies and the three ride back to camp but about halfway through, the three of them stop and Arthur gets off his horse, He helps Abigail up onto the back of Sadie's horse and tells her John is either dead or captured and he doesn't know for sure causing Abigail to burst into tears and gives Arthur to key to Dutch's chest right in camp with all the gang's money in that he was saving. He tells Abigail that Jack is safe with Tilly in Copperhead Landing and tell's Sadie to take her to them when Simon arrives on the trail by them and again is relieved to see Sadie is safe and sound and she feels the same way even if they don't say it to each other. "I'll go with them Arthur." Simon says after getting the short rundown on the plan and he rides off to Copperhead landing with them whilst Arthur returns to the camp to have one last chat.

Arthur returns to camp and is met with hostility by Micah, Dutch is confused and hostile to both and a standoff is happening when John arrives bleeding from his shoulder. Miss Grimshaw is shot and John takes Arthur's side as the Pinkertons rush the camp forcing the gang to flee into the mountains. Arthur flees with John and tells him about his family and helps John escape as far as he can. Arthur stops on the side of the mountain and gives John his hat and his satchel to which John replies "You're my brother..." Arthur pants, his disease getting the better of him and nods "I Know..." 

John then leaves whilst Arthur trues to distract the Pinkertons more before getting attacked by Micah, the two of them fight and Dutch joins the fray as well before they are ultimately forced to leave by the presence of the law and Arthur lays there clutching at his final breaths.

Simon, Sadie, Abigail, Jack and Tilly are all sat in Copperhead landing waiting incase anyone else shows up. Abigail is hugging Jack like her life depends on it, Tilly is sat beside them rubbing Abigails back and trying to comfort her whilst Sadie is stood keeping an lookout for company. Simon then approaches and stands beside her "I'm glad you're okay..I was a little worried after yesterday and then the robbery today.." Simon said softly, his tone soft and gentle with care.

Sadie sighed softly but couldn't help the small smile on her lips "I'm glad you're okay too...after what happened at camp.." She said softly, her expression still aware as she kept an eye out with her binoculars. "So what's the plan now?" Simon asked before Sadie spoke not even addressing his question as she saw John arriving in the morning sunrise behind him. "Holy shit, John" Sadie exclaimed causing Abigail and Jack to perk up.

Abigail and Jack quickly rushed over to John and embraced him, Abigail starting to cry again and Jack clinging to them both like his life depended on it. Sadie then walked over with Simon and sighed softly. "We should get out of here..what's our plan?" She asked, her tone serious but curious.

Tilly spoke up deciding that she was going to go somewhere and try build a life for herself. John decided that he would go north into the mountains and higher up with Abigail and Jack and try to start a new life for themselves. Sadie nodded slightly and hugged them all "I wish you all well.."

Abigail and John wished their fairwells with Jack and got on a boat and headed up north on their journey. Tilly got back on her horse and rode off into the sunrise leaving Sadie and Simon stood next to each other with their horses peacefully grazing behind them.

"So uh, what's your plan now, Sadie?" Simon asked taking his hat off and holding it against his chest.

Sadie shrugged and sighed softly "Honestly, I have no idea..but I have to try find something..till then i'll just drift around..try figure things out, ya know?" She said softly glancing over at him, her hat casting a shadow over her eyes in the morning sunrise.

Simon nodded and smiled softly looking over at her again "That sounds like a mighty good plan..at least for the moment..mind if I tag along?"

Sadie chuckled softly and shook her head turning back to her horse with him and mounting up "Very funny cowboy, but sure I wouldn't mind the company I guess." Simon chuckled and mounted his horse beside her and began to slowly ride off with her into the sunrise.
