The car stopped outside the tall building of an apartment complex. Altamash opened his door and same time Faryal got out of her seat.

"I'll get the bags. You help her."

He tossed the keys to Faryal who caught it in her hand before she started talking with Zainab who had came out of the car. Altamash's eyes averted to her just for a second too long before finally coming back to the task at hand. There weren't many bags all the more highlighting the fact that they weren't together for long. Their journey would have to come to an end.

After grabbing all the bags, he finally took the elevator to his floor. His steps, however, faltered as he stood outside the door. He took in a deep breath and typed the password into the lock and the door flung open. He put the bags on the side on the floor as Faryal approached

"She's in the room."

Altamash nodded his head, grateful for her help.

"I can stay tonight if you want. I don't mind."

Altamash got rid of his waistcoat, throwing it on the sofa and faced Faryal, opening his cufflinks

"No Fari go home. Ammi will be worried for you."

Faryal pursed her lips but didn't argue further.

"Okay, but call me anytime if you need me."

Altamash nodded his head and smiled at his cousin.

"The driver is waiting for you downstairs."

He told her after he messaged his driver to come pick her up. Faryal quietly left the apartment and then he was alone.

With Zainab.

Suddenly the humongous apartment didn't feel so spacious anymore. Altamash could feel her presence all the way from down the corridor. He could feel her. She was in his house. His house. As his bride. His lawfully wedded wife.

It was surreal.
It was something he had wished for. Longed for and now he has it. But not completely.

She was still as far as she was before. There was still a heavy line separating them. A border that just couldn't be crossed.

A sigh escaped his lips as he tried to muster the courage to go up to her. She was alone with him, partially a stranger. She must be panicking. And knowing how much she would be hurting right now...he closed his eyes as if to erase the image. Mustering his strength, his feet took him to her room. He kept his steps slow and light and stopped at the door. His fist clenched and unclenched before he tapped it on the door. He heard a very small whisper and then he opened the door, his breath caught in his chest.
