And oh!
I've fallen
In love......

Zainab ran around the house making sure everything was in order and the way she wanted it to be. Her phone was glued to her ear as she talked to her doctor simultaneously

"Yes. The new medication is working for me good."

"Good. Let's arrange our appointment for the first Monday of next month?"

"Yeah. Works for me."

She cut the call and put the phone on the countertop. Wearing the oven mitts, she took out the red velvet cookies that she baked especially for the occasion. Smelling the cookies, she smiled so bright like a child seeing a toy from the outside of the shop. She put the baking tray onto the mat and looked at the time.

"Ok. I'll have to work fast."

She muttered to herself before hurriedly walking upstairs. Walking in her closet, she grabbed the newest dress that she bought. It was such a dark maroon shade. The shirt was A line and was longer at the back. Her bottoms were pant styled while the dupatta was chiffon. She walked over to her dresser and took out the diamond earrings that Altamash brought for her on her birthday.

She bit her lips as she searched for the matching ring. Clicking her tongue, she strolled to her bed side table in search of her ring. She checked in the drawers, hoping to find the ring, but instead she found an envelope. Her heart stopped in her chest as she realized what that envelope held.

The last letter that Hammad wrote to her.

She never gotten around to read it. Whenever she decided it was time, any excuse would stop her from doing so. But it looked like the time had finally came.

Her fingers traced the envelope as she pulled it out of the drawer. Sitting there on the floor, on the side of her bed, her fingers trembled as she opened the envelope.

Two folded sheets of paper stared at her. Closing her eyes, she heaved a deep breath before finally unfolding the letter.

Familiar cursive writing stared at her before she finally started to read it.

"My Zainab
It's likely that by the time you're reading this letter I'll be gone. I'm sorry to have hidden the truth from you. I'm sorry for not telling you sooner what I was really going through or the threats that I was receiving. But know, my darling, don't think that it was because I didn't want to confide in you. You are my best friend. There's no one in the world I would share my secrets with rather than you, but because you are the most precious to me that I couldn't tell you the truth.

It was better to keep you in the dark than have you stand face front in the wake of danger. I hope you'll forgive me. For hiding the truth from you. It was all for your safety. For your protection, because God forbid, if something had happened to you, I wouldn't have forgiven myself. It was better to die myself than make you a target of those monsters.
