When the boys came to the dorm yesterday, they were fuming and I found out from Kanyo that Enzo actually reported Kayla. I am happy he did that because that is what I wanted to do too. Kayla needs to know that she can not get away with hurting people like that.
So we are currently in the principals office, myself and Kayla.
Mrs T: Nkomo, thank you for the manner in which you handled the situation and you will be rewarded for your courage and care. Me: there is no need. Didi is my friend and what hurts her, hurts me just as much. Mrs T: your mother raised a true gentleman. Me: thank you, ma'am. Mrs T: Kayla, the manner in which you have carried yourself as of late has been shameful to say the least. I have spoken to your parents and you will be seeing the schools therapist every Thursday evening in order for us to understand the root cause of your behaviour. I will furthermore be suspending you from our RCL board until further notice. if you decide to step down after this suspension, that will be respected too. I will now ask you to hand over your badge.
Kayla stands up with tears coming down her face as she faces the floor in shame. She takes her badge off of her blazer and hands it to Mrs Theron.
Mrs T: your mother has asked me to inform you that she will be here in the afternoon to discuss this matter with you. Mr Nkomo, I have informed your parents of your great act as well. that is all for today, enjoy the rest of your day and let me not hear from you again for at least this entire week.
Kayla and I are exiting the office together so I open the door for her.
Kay: thank you.
I then walk ahead of her.
Kay: Nkomo, I am so sorry. I did not know that Didi was asthmatic and was easily triggered. Me: so you needed to know all of that in order for you to not bully her? Kay: no, you are not hearing me right. Me: that is what I am hearing. Kayla, please stay away from Didi. Kay: Didi is my duty. Me: which you failed to achieve and if I remember correctly, those rights have been revoked by Mrs Theron just now when she confiscated your badge. Kayla, I do not want to be rude to you so please let us not talk right now or anytime soon because I respect you. Kay: okay.
She wipes tears away from her face which is now red. I feel bad for her now but what she did was wrong, she needs to know that there are consequences for her actions.
I walk away and run to class.
Mrs Mons: Nkomo, our hero.
The boys burst out laughing. The girls are blushing and Didi is just looking at me with excitement. She has such a pure soul. After everything that has happened, she still plasters a smile on that pretty face.
14:15 All the rugby boys are in the changing room and we are getting ready for practice. One of our rugby boys, Lukhanyo speaks...
Luke: I think Nkomo has something to tell us. Me: and that is? Luke: you and that Didi girl. Me: "Didi girl" sounds rather disrespectful, please do try another tone or rephrase.
The boys whistle, some smack the lockers and then burst out laughing.
Luke: she is a proper 8 if you ask me. Enzo: no one asked you, that's the thing. Luke: we are all boys, why are you being sensitive about this matter? Mpho: because you would never be able to bag a girl like Didi.
The boys echoe "yoh, yoh, yoh" as some whistle and erupt in laughter trying to gaslight the situation.
Lwazi: who is this girl?
Lwazi, who is the most clueless member of our rugby team asks.
Luke: let me show you.
He says pulling out his phone and showing Lwazi her pictures on socials.

Me: let that be the last time you stalk her. Luke: I could bag this girl, Nkomo. Me: go ahead and try, Luke. Didi does not speak to airheads. Luke: cold, Nkomo. Lwazi: she is a proper 10 though. Luke: ten is a bit too high. Lwazi: compared to the girls you go for, you should be the last one to speak. Enzo: exactly! Luke: Enzo, you have bagged zero girls in the past few weeks so please do not talk. Enzo: Luke, your girlfriend was in Nkomo's direct messages. Me: Enzo! Luke: I do not like her that much, boy. Coach: hey!
He says as he walks in.
Coach: you have time to sit here and gossip while the field is empty? go!
We run out to the field and when we get there, I see Didi sitting on one of the grandstands and I wave at her. Luke runs past me and says...
Luke: 8! Me: shut up.
We warm up and then practice. After practice, the boys and I walk Didi to her dorm building before heading to ours.
Kanyo: are you guys ready for the renewal of vows event?
Hlompho's parents will be renewing their vows soon because they feel like it. I am honestly happy for him for having a stable home.
Enzo: we are ready. Me: let us hope my parents will behave themselves.
