[ your pov ]
I woke up in a cold sweat. My eyes were wide open, although I had just entered into the real world. I couldn't decide whether it was the beginning of my nightmare, or the end of a dream.
I picked up my dream journal on the right side of my bed. With a pencil I found in my bed, I begun to write gruesome details about my nightmare from the night before.
/It grabbed me by the legs, pulling me into a bottomless pit. No mercy./
My hand shook vigorously and I had threw the pen across the room. Tears immediately sprung from my eyes, and in no way was I obliged to stop them.I never remember the entire dream. There's only bits and pieces I could never forget, but putting them together like a puzzle made no sense.
I flipped through previous pages in the notebook, desperately looking for things that might match up last night.
Then there it was. It was a vague picture but I remember what had been pulling me. I traced the outline of the drawing with my shaking finger. Then to the details of its face. Its wide smile stretched to the corners of its face, literally grinning ear to ear, and its eyes were such a fluorescent white it could've blinded me. The creature was an unnatural colour, albeit I don't remember what it was.
A sudden sound startled me, almost like a gurgle of some sort, and I almost mistook it for a voice. I sighed, placing the journal back on the bedside table and threw my head onto the pillow. I stared at the ceiling, trying to recollect memories, and why the creature was after me. Then a little ping! sound rang through in my head. I grabbed the journal once more and flipped to an early page.
"It murdered five children right in front of me. How did I escape from death?" It read.
It was pointless, I couldn't remember anything. It? What sick thing would murder innocent children? I groaned in annoyance and threw the notebook aside. All I wanted right now was food, maybe some chocolate would help me in my distressed state."Gra..." Another gurgle alarmed me, but closer than before.
My heart beat faster and pounded against my chest. My breathing paced as I clung to my blanket, then looking for something to defend myself."Dear...est..." I thought I heard a voice replacing that gurgle of incoherent sounds. "Beau..ty."
I hoped to God that was my imagination.
I closed my eyes and thought of happy things. Well- I tried to.
When I opened my eyes, a silhouette of a man stood in front of the window. It was open, and the cold breeze hit my bare skin. My teeth chattered as he looked outside.
"Such... Such a beautiful night...isn't it?" He finally spoke; my heart jumped as a reaction.
I shakily breathed, grabbing a nearby glass bottle, ready to attack him. I quietly got out of bed, sneaking up on him as he kept his face towards the window. I gulped, and shut my eyes again. When I opened my eyes, he was gone.In a blink of an eye, his face appeared in front of mine. He crookedly smiled at me, but I didn't smile back. He had pinned me against the wall and breathed heavily on my neck.
