Finding Riley

Chapter 37: Finding Riley

(Riley's POV) 

One week later

I looked at a picture of Caspian and I, and screamed "Why???" Jasmine rushed out of her room and yelled "What's wrong?" I cried and whined "He is getting married to her in a week, Jasmine a week." Jasmine sat down next to me and grabbed the bottle of wine and said "Your drinking yourself to death Riles, you have sat on this couch for a week ignoring Hayden and everyone. You smell like alcohol and tears." I rolled my eyes and said "It's not fair I haven't done anything wrong. I just fell in love with someone I've known my entire life." Jasmine hugged me and I snatched the bottle from her hands and drank the rest of the bottle. I got up from the couch and walked out of the door, Jasmine followed behind me and said "Where are you going?" I incoherently said "On... On A walk." 

I walked out of the house and to the park nearby my apartment, It was 2 am so it wasn't as active. There were a couple of homeless people sleeping on benches, a couple of people just walking around and then there was me. Drunk pathetic heartbroken me, I walked over to lake and sat down on the sandy grass. I moped to myself isolated by the thoughts of watching someone I've known for over 23 years walk down the isle with someone who doesn't even deserve half of him. I cried, and cried some more and said "Riley, your either going to sink or swim." I took of my slippers and hoodie jacket and walked towards the freezing cold water, I kept walking until it got to deep for me and I was submerged in the water....

(Jasmine's POV) 

I walked back in my room after Riley stormed out, I pulled out my phone and called Allan. 

*Ring Ring* 

"Uh Hello?" He said in his groggy voice.

"Why haven't you told Caspian by now." I questioned, he groaned and said "Jasmine it's 2 in the morning. I am an old man." I rolled my eyes and demanded "Shut up your only 43." He laughed and said "True but I still feel old." I tried not to laugh and angrily said "All this small talk is irrelevant, Riley is a mess. She is drinking herself to sleep every night and she bitterly yells at pictures and movies. She's lost it and this whole wedding is eating her up, so I will tell you one more time. FIX IT BEFORE I DO." I hung the phone up and sighed, this was all just to much and I couldn't watch her suffer anymore. 

I walked over to Hayden's apartment and banged on the door waking him and his brother up, Hayden's brother came to the door and said "Jasmine are you here to finally accept my offer?" I rolled my eyes and said "I will not go out on a date with you ever, I don't deal with immature pretty boy man whores anymore. That may have been the old Jasmine but not the one in front of you. Now put on a shirt your not impressing anyone, and get your brother for me." Hayden's brother laughed and walked into Hayden's bedroom. Hayden came out shirtless to with his hair pulled up in a messy bun, I looked at him and said "Listen get over your butt hurt self about Riley not calling you back for the last week. Right now she needs both us of as her FRIENDS, she doesn't need to stress about realtionshit issues. She just needs to be drunk and hurt and we need to be by her side because we both love her. So go put on a shirt and help me find her.

Hayden threw his arms in surrender and grabbed a shirt and walked out of the apartment complex with me. He looked over at me while we were walking outside and said "You are a good friend."  I looked up at the stars and said "I love her, thick through thin and so do you." 

(Riley's POV) 

I felt my whole body drop to a freezing cold temperature, I saw a bright white light coming towards me and I felt peace. I stopped breathing, and for a moment I wasn't scared or hurt I was just being. My eyes were closed shut but then suddenly I felt something pull me out of the water, I coughed up water and saw a woman in front of me that I haven't seen in years. I looked and said "Mom?" The moment I said that the woman ran off and disappeared in the woods. I sat there puzzled by her, I haven't seen her since she walked out and never came back but I remember her face clear as day. She looked just like me, but why would she be here and know where I was and know that I was drowning. 

I heard two people yell my name which snapped me out of the gaze I was in, I was soaking wet and Hayden and Jasmine ran over to me. Hayden looked at me confused and yelled "Riley what the hell?" I looked at him and said "I was deciding if I was going to sink or swim." Jasmine rolled her eyes and said "You have to force yourself to swim you idiot! Life isn't about the people who try to drown you but you picking yourself back up and getting back in the ocean, and swimming again. No matter how much it hurts, or how scary it is. You just have to get up and swim Riley, because that's all we can do with the cards were handed in life. We deal with it, we get back up every time we fall. We do that because we have to and because we can, because we are strong and Riley you are strong." I ran into there arms cried. 

My whole life I have had a fake strength about myself, I put walls up to protect myself and I carry false fantasies so I don't have to deal with reality. But seeing my mother really pointed out how broken I really am, I am broken by Caspian, by mom and most importantly by myself. I needed to walk away deciding to swim instead of sinking, my life needed to be different from this point on. I had to find Riley.  

Well.... Riley hit rock bottom, and guess who she found her mom? Why would her mom come back after all of these years, what's so important about now? Jasmine gave her a piece of her mind and Riley needed to hear it she was so stuck on her fantasy world her whole life crashed in front of her eyes. Hopefully Riley can finally face the facts and change them instead of whining about them.
