Chapter 19: Sleepless Without You

(Caspian's POV)

They say after the first month it will get better, heartbreak will start to numb and your stages of grief for that relationship will be semi over and that's what I was preparing for. That month filled with drinking my sorrows away. I grabbed the last of my suitcases and packed it into the plane, I sat in my seat and my mother asked "Are you ready?" I reluctantly said "I wouldn't be here if I wasn't mother." She scuffed and said "You don't have to be mean about it, I am still your mother." I settled in my seat and said "I know mom." I closed my eyes and tried to drown out the conversation Jaceyln and my mother were having.

----

*We have arrived to your destination Mrs.Accardo*

"Wake up Caspian, were home." Jaceyln said while tugging on my clothes, I snapped "I am up." She let go of me and said "Okay, I will be outside with your mother." I rolled my eyes and said "Figures." She sighed and walked out of the plane and on to the ground. My mother watched me grab the suitcases out of the plane and she said "Caspian you are home." I thought to myself my home is with Riley, this isn't home this is responsibility. I walked into the building, filled with people running around doing their jobs. Everyone was in a suit, they all looked the same they were robots. My mother walked us to the elevators and clicked the top floor, we entered the office which was a huge room with tall windows overlooking New York city. Jaceyln rushed to the windows and screamed with excitement, I admit I was impressed with the office. It was quiet and peaceful and I knew I would kind of enjoy this. Jaceyln walked over to me and whined "Baby can we go home, I am feeling really tired." I kissed her forehead to please my mother and said "Sure babe." I walked with her to the elevator and went down to floor one, which is takes awhile when your on the 24th floor. Jaceyln tried to make small talk during the ride but I just ignored her.

We got in the black SUV my mom called for us, I helped Jaceyln get in the car and we both got in the back seat. The driver was an old Italian man, but his hat covered his face. The man turned around and I was shocked, I asked "Richard?" He grabbed my hand and shook it and said "It's good to see you again Caspian." I smiled and said "Man its great to see you, I thought you would have retired by now man." He laughed with his deep voice and said "No I love the Accardo's too much." We spent the car ride catching up, and Richard asked "Where's Riley, I haven't seen her in almost 3 years now. She was a brave one to leave everything behind and start a new life, I was so happy to hear you joined her two years ago." I shifted in my seat and prepared myself to have to answer this question over and over again since my mother is the only one aware of whats really happening. I cleared my throat and said "Riley decided to stay in California, we didn't end things on good terms but this is Jaceyln my girlfriend." He looked at her through the rear view mirror and gave her a dry "Hello." I wanted to laugh but I had to hide that his distaste for her was apparent. Richard was like a second dad to me and he could see right through people and he must have saw something he doesn't like in her.

We arrived at the family mansion, and the maids greeted us at the front door. I saw our family maid Marisol standing by the door way, she walked to me and said "Oh Caspian you have grown up so much in two years. You wear glasses now and your hair is longer and look your growing a beard." She pinched my cheeks and said "You left a boy and came back a man." I smiled at the older woman and said "Thank you Marisol, I really missed you." She smiled and said "Oh let me get your bags, we can't have the pregnant woman carrying them. Come Jaceyln lets show you to your guys room, let Caspian catch up with his family." Jaceyln reluctantly followed Marisol and I walked in the house I once called a home. I looked at the top of the staircase and saw my dad walking down, he had a tear in his eyes and he said "My son." Tears fell down my cheek and I said "Pops." The one hard thing about leaving here was leaving my father, the man was messed up in many ways but he was always honest with me. I loved him, he was a flawed man but in his purest form. I watched him walk down the stairs and he hadn't aged a day, he still had a head full of jet black hair and his piercing green eyes. He was tall and still very fit, for 48 he looked good almost better than me.
