How I Met Dan Howell

Chapter 6: Lunch Invitation

After we had watched the first season of 'Ouran High School Host Club' on Netflix, it was already dinnertime.

"Who's up for Chinese?" Gavin asks as the ending song of the show plays.

"Me!" I exclaim.

"I second that," Mackenzie says.

"Ok, we getting the usual?"

"Of course. What else would we get?" I say.

"Alright, sounds good. Order in or eat out?"

"Actually, I'm kinda in the mood to go out. Can we?" Mackenzie asks. Usually, we eat in and watch Netflix or Youtube together, but seeing as we have been doing that all day anyway, I can see why she would want to go out for a bit.

"Well, I don't have a problem with that if you don't, Gavin," I say, kind of needing to stretch out my legs a bit.

"Sure, sounds great! Do you guys mind if I invite Vincent? I want you guys to meet him. Please?" he asks with his puppy dog eyes.

Of course!" I exclaim."I would love to meet him."

"Same, I bet he is really nice," Mack assures Gavin. Gavin smiles and says, "Thanks guys. I'm going to call him real quick. Two seconds, promise." Gavin goes to his room down the hall to call Vincent and get ready.

"Well, do you want to go ahead and go downstairs and wait for him to come down?" Mackenzie asks me.

"Um, you go ahead. I'm going to go use the restroom before we go, check my makeup and stuff."

"Ok, I'll meet you guys down there."

"K."

After I hear the front door shut, I make my way to the bathroom. I knock on the door, even though I know Gavin isn't in there. Mainly because it's a habit, but it's also polite. When I hear no response beyond the door, I open it, walk in and close it behind me.  I head over to the black-framed mirror and look to see how my makeup looks. Not too bad, a little smudged. Nothing I can't fix. After I'm done, I walk out, only to collide with Gavin as he exits out of his room. Only someone as clumsy as me could pick the exact time to come out of a room at the same time as another and bump foreheads.

"Ahh, shit!"

"Jesus Christ!"

"You ok?" Gavin asks me.

"Yeah, you?"

"I think so. Anyway, what did Vincent say? Is he gonna meet us there?"

Calvin's face turns to a slight frown as he says, "No, he has a late meeting tonight and won't be out for a couple hours. He said he's sorry but he said we could all go out to eat for lunch on Saturday."

"Ok, well, it will be nice for it to be just the three of us," I assure him.

His face brightens up as I say this. "Yeah, your right. It can just be me and my girls!"

~Timeskip After Dinner~

"Man, that was so good," I say, stuffed from dinner.

"Yeah, me too. I'm ready for bed," Mackenzie says.

"What's with you two and food. It's like your eyes are bigger than your stomachs," Gavin says. He had about half the amount Mackenzie and I had.

"Can't help it. I like food too much," I state.

When we get back to the apartment, Mack and I wait behind Gavin as he tries to unlock the door.

"I don't know, Phil. They might have gone out or someth- Oh, hey guys." I hear a man with a British accent behind me. Obviously, that's common in England, but I knew that voice.

"Hi, Dan," Mackenzie says casually, like she has known him all their lives.

"Hey, Dan," Gavin says.

"Nice to see you again. Hello, Taylor."

It takes me a second to realize he had said my name.

"Oh uh, hi, Dan." God, will I ever not be awkward. Not likely.

"See, I told you we see each other again."

I laugh and say, "Yeah, I guess you were right."

Beside Dan, Phil clears his throat. "Oh, sorry. This is Phil. Phil this is Mackenzie,"

Mackenzie waves at Phil. "Hi, nice to meet you."

"..and Gavin," Dan continues.

"Hey." He smiles a gentle smile towards Phil, almost nervous.

"..and Taylor," Dan says.

I stood there, staring, not being able to contemplate that my two favorite Youtubers were right here, standing in front of me.

And here I was, not able to make a single sentence other than, "Hi...," Mental facepalm.

"So what's up?" Gavin said, trying to draw attention away from me and my awkward bubble.

"Actually, we were going to see if you guys wanted to go with us to lunch tomorrow," Phil said.

"I'd love to!" Gavin exclaims. "What do you guys think?"

"Yeah, sounds great!" Mackenzie says.

"What do you think, Taylor?" Dan asks and looks at me.

How can I say 'no' to a guy like him?

"What time should we head out tomorrow?"

A/N Dan and Phil invited Taylor, Mackenzie, and Gavin. Taylor is still very nervous around them. Hopefully, this will allow her to open up more, be less she, and maybe even learn some things about Dan and Phil that she didn't expect. Love y'all.
