Love forbidden

It hurts indeed, a pain so true,
To know I can’t love, though I want to.
Just like Gigi’s words once taught,
"Love is the law, and religion is thought."

I wish to love someone, not of my creed,
Someone I cherish, someone I need.
But why should I bother, why even try,
When faith forbids and dreams must die?

It’s not just love that cuts so deep,
But knowing God’s plans are secrets to keep.
Is this a test, a tempting snare,
To teach me devotion through love's despair?

For the sake of my faith, I’ll step away,
From those I love, come what may.
I’ll bury the feelings that make me weak,
And find solace in the path I seek.
