"This is so annoying!" I groaned, yanking my blade from the shell of a crab, the last of this wave. This had been the third wave I directly took part in- and we even mixed up our order to test it- and every wave I was in was incomparably harder than the waves without my active involvement. "How is it fair!?" I snapped, kicking the crab corpse. Rather than relieve stress, I simply got rewarded with a stinging toe... figures.
Carson had me experiment several different ways, including switching what group I participated in, and even having me enter into a group half way through. It seemed that when ever I got close to the surf is when the fish spawns turned into the much stronger crab ones, even mid wave. For the wave before this one- when I was supposed to be resting- Carson had me stand out there just long enough to have a ton of crabs show up, guaranteeing the better loot drops.
Greyson let out a whooping laugh, draping a heavily muscled, and gore splattered, arm around my shoulders. "This is why you are Lucky Charms!"
"Ugh, stop calling me that!" I grunted, ducking out from under his arm.
"Alright, enough of that. Come back for a rest." Bryce called out. As the groups were now separated, he was in a group with Kuro and Argus. Thy had taken to making sure there was an extra member with whatever team I was taking part in.
"Cheer up." Chuckled Carson, setting a hand where Greyson's sweaty arm had been moments before. "I can't say that the guild has had such efficient farming in a three-star instance in a long time. And the experience gains have been good for the twins, who are right on the cusp of reaching four-star."
"Glad that I can be of help." I sighed with a little sarcasm, absolutely bushed.
This guild was no joke. In reality, I had no other higher tiered guild to compare it to, but in contrast with the lower tiered raid teams I had been with, these guys were some how more intense, yet less at the same time. They went at the instance like a team of raving beast. There was little to no time for rest, there was no long strategy sessions, nor discussions on who got what loot. They just fought with a mixture of bull headedness and the type of cohesiveness that working together for long stretches of time would get you.
And, despite all that hard hitting, unbreakable, never ending grind... they still joked and messed around like a bunch of middle schoolers on a field trip. At least, that was how the twins, Argus and Nick seemed to behave. Aiden stayed being the quiet, smoldering observer as he cast his spells when needed. As for the other three, well, they actually seemed almost normal. At least normal compared to the rest of the nutcases that seemed to make up Chaos.
I was reminded, time and again, how that name (Chaos) seemed to fit them so well.
"Don't you find them exhausting?" I asked, glaring over my shoulder as Argus approached the the other crazies, already getting into some kind of back and forth with Nick.
"Almost unbearably." Conceded Carson with a warm laugh. "But they're good- albeit crazy- people."
I supposed that was tru-
"Oi! Lucky charm! I think this one looks a little like you!" Howled Grayson. I looked over my shoulder and he was standing- Captain Morgan style- on the red shell of a nasty crab. The smallest crab at that.
I glared, fuming, at the childish little snot.
