My eyes flutter open to meet the sun. I reach up with my arms in a very satisfying morning stretch. I almost burst out laughing followed by a sudden feeling of panic as I recall the events of last night, my cheeks burning red hot against the cool air.
I walked into the club after my friends threatened to drench me in ice water if I didn't join them. So I threw on some clothes which turned out to be a short black dress with a leather jacket and my slightly heeled boots. I did a pretty lazy job with some eyeliner, mascara and lip gloss. I decided my hair would stay loose tonight.
Anyway, the music was blaring in my ears as I stepped past the very scary-looking bouncers at the door. My friends dragged me over to the bar to get our first drinks... Oh boy. After we were all sorted we went to sit on some couches across from the dance floor. A couple of drinks later we were all laughing hysterically at something someone had said and it was then that Bella suggested that we 'hit the floor.' So we got up and headed across the crowded room. I don't know how I spotted him in the mass of moving bodies but I did.
He was sitting on a bar chair, dark hair hanging around his face, his eyes unmoving. It took me a moment to realise he was looking straight at me, his playful smirk making me stumble a little as I headed up the steps. I decided to ignore him, passing him off as drunk. I continued having a great time with my girls, dancing, singing terribly to the songs we knew and hardly catching a breath in between laughs.
As it happened, I looked back at the bar where I had seen the guy watching me and oddly found that he wasn't there.
"Looking for someone?" a deep husky voice said behind me.
I turned around and was face to face with the most beautiful boy I had ever seen. His piercing blue eyes seemed to gaze right through me. His chocolate curls almost reaching his strong shoulders which were at my eye level. His white teeth gleaming at me through perfectly shaped, pink lips.
"Oh..." I stammered, "No, I was just... uh... nothing." I couldn't help the smile that stretches over my face.
"Well then-" his eyes teasing, "-since you're doing nothing..."
He placed his one hand on my waist and with the other he reached for mine, pulling me towards him by the hips.
"You want to dance like this?" I asked innocently, my one eyebrow raised. "This is hardly the right music for a slow dance." My lips curled into a loose smirk.
"Wait for it." he said slowly, glancing at the DJ.
My mouth fell open slightly, "You didn't..." I start but he looked down at me just as the music changed. A slow, rhythmic beat filling the room.
"Smooth, very smooth..." I comment.
"Luke," he seemed to know what I was thinking. "Luke Taylor."
His voice was intoxicating.
"Lovely to meet you, Luke Taylor." I said playfully.
He leaned forward and whispered helpfully, "This is the part where you tell me your name."
My mothers words of stranger danger suddenly popped into my head and I hesitated before answering with a raised eyebrow, "Hey, I thought you were here to dance."
"I guess I am." he chuckled as he looked at me with those aqua eyes.
He pulled me closer and lead me with his strong but not too muscular body in time to the music. It had been a very long time since I had danced this way. I found it strangely refreshing since nowadays there was more grinding than actual dancing going on.
