Lucario saw what Ash's Mega Keystone gloves, which he knows that He will mega evolve to Mega Lucario. In truth, he's excited to Mega Evolve again when facing against strongest opponent.

But...

Ash felt Lucario holding on his shoulder as he then looked at him in surprise.

"Lucario?"

Lucario shook his head. Realizing what Lucario meant, he elaborate in surprise, "Wait, you didn't want to mega evolve?"

Lucario shook his head, giving response to Ash. He walk forward and stopped beside Greninja, went into fighting stance.

"Rawr." Lucario called out to Greninja beside him.

Greninja look at Lucario on the eyes, see that he wants to battle together side by side like partners.

The frog ninja smile under his tongue scarf and giving Greninja a nod, went into battle stance.

"Lucario and Greninja..." Liko looked at both pokemon in awe. From their gesture, she could tell both pokemon has a great deal of trust with each other, she decide to scan Lucario with her rotom phone.

"Lucario. Aura Pokemon. Fighting/Steel type. It can tell what people are thinking. Only Trainers who have justice in their hearts can earn this Pokémon's trust. A well-trained one can sense auras to identify and take in the feelings of creatures over half a mile away."

"Aura pokemon..." After reading that, Liko got hit by a realization, "Could it be..."

"You got that right, Liko."

Ash decide to give an answer for Liko, knowing what she realized, "Greninja help Lucario's aura sharpened back then." He put back his mega keystone glove to his backpack, "He want to battle alongside Greninja with his full strength no other power up with mega evolve."

Although Ash said that, he got sad afterwards, "But that's not only the reason he did this."

May curiously asked, "What would be the reason, Ash?"

"May, you still remembers my final match against Leon, right?" May nodded for his confirmation, "I haven't realized it for a while, but it looks like Lucario felt bitter for his loss against Dragapult that he can only relied himself using Bullet Punch."

May recall back when Lucario, in its mega form struggle against Dragapult, who constantly attacks Lucario with thunderbolt and got hit by Flamethrower twice that made Lucario get paralyzed before Dragapult defeat Lucario by shooting the second flamethrower.

Sure Lucario manage to beat Mr Rime before, but Dragapult was a part ghost type so he struggles with only able to land a steel type moves.

After a while, ever since Lucario heard about Ash do another World Coronation matches, he decide to train alongside the fellow fighting type pokemons.

"Also because of me doing another world coronation matches, Lucario has been training constantly and mostly with Infernape."

May and Max remember watching Ash Lucario fight against Dragapult. While Lucario manage to deal some considerably good damage towards Dragapult, Lucario cannot defend himself easily against both thunderbolt and flamethrower which lead to his loss.

"Liko, i haven't asked about the plan, but i bet it has anything to do with trying to calm down moltres, right?"

"Yeah. The plan is to let Moltres get to smell the scent from sprigatito. Maybe we could top it up with Meloetta's calm song as well."

"Got it!" He turn towards Lucario and Greninja, "Both of you got it, right?"

"Luca."
