Guys, we did it! We made it to the finish line!! I'm so happy!!! It's like Katy Perry kissing the ground when she "got back from space"! I honestly can't believe how bad this show is. I wasn't even a fan of the first season as I felt they changed bits and pieces of the story that didn't make sense and added some stuff that had no purpose or meaning whatsoever. Plus the miscast of Joel and Ellie I couldn't get over.
I might've said already but I'm not even sure Slinky and I are gonna watch Season 3 whenever that comes out. Course both of us said we weren't gonna watch Season 2, yet here we are. Idk maybe by then, we'll have money and the equipment to make a commentary channel on YouTube and make some money off of our pain. (Probably not but a girl can dream).
Anyway, here are our reactions to the certain parts of the episode.
Jesse to Dina: I got you.
Slinky: You're too good for her, Jesse.
RJ: Yeah.
Slinky: I'd treat you better.
RJ: I mean, she's already crossed the line by cheating on him.Ellie coming back to the theater with no emotion on her face
Slinky: Ellie doesn't even look tore up about what she did to Nora.
RJ: That's what I was just about to say.Ellie asking to see Dina's injury
RJ: Why do you want to see?
Slinky: Because she's a psychopath, the show has established that.Ellie's back being scratched up and bruised
RJ: What did she do to deserve that? In the game I understood but here, she hasn't gotten into any struggle at all.Ellie telling Dina she tortured Nora
RJ: she looked so disinterested. In the game she was shocked and distraught.
Slinky: Yeah.Ellie saying Joel killed everyone in the hospital
Slinky: Good.
RJ: *burst out laughing*Ellie telling Dina why Abby's group came for Joel
Slinky: Didn't game Ellie never find out why Abby killed Joel, she just thought she did.
RJ: Yeah, she thought it was because Joel stop them from making a cure. Which is why I never bought her forgiving Abby at the end.
Slinky: Yeah, the show is changing it so it makes more sense why she lets her go and it's pissing me off.
RJ: *chuckles*Jesse calling Ellie out on her bullshit
RJ: *laughs and claps* Jesse best damn character in this whole show!
Slinky: *laughs*Issac saying Abby was supposed to be the next leader after him
Slinky: Well sorry Issac but she's gonna leave for two random kids.
RJ: *chuckles* That she barely knows.Jesse: Here we are again. Stuck in bad fucking weather
Slinky: I'd like to be stuck with him. 😏
RJ: *chuckles*Ellie saying that Jesse is no better than her
Slinky: Please slap her Jesse.
RJ: *chuckles* Do it. You know you want to.
Jesse leaves to go after Tommy
RJ: Damnit.Random Seraphites child appeares
Slinky: *burst out laughing*
RJ: *laughs* That scared me.
Slinky: That looked so silly.Ellie is saved by convenient timing of the Seraphites' village being attacked
RJ: *laughing* Wow.
Slinky: Damn that plot armor is strong.
RJ: *still laughing* Yeah.Ellie pushing her boat back out to sea to get off the Seraphites island
RJ: Well that was pointless.
Slinky: Yeah. Was that just set up for season 3?
RJ: I guess so.Ellie arrives at the aquarium
Slinky: The moment of truth. Will we see Ellie kill a dog?
RJ: Yeah.Slinky: Why did she take her jacket off?
RJ: To let it dry off I guess.
Slinky: Gotta have her in dry pristine clothes
RJ: Yeah. Who do you think we are? The Walking Dead?Ellie finds Mel and Owen
RJ: Of course they don't make her kill a dog.Ellie and Jesse racing to help Tommy, which will lead to Jesse's death
RJ: Oh here we go!
Slinky: No! No, I don't want to!Screen goes to black
Slinky: Somehow they screw up that cliffhanger.
RJ: *laughing*Abby appears on screen
Slinky: Oh it's still going.
RJ: We get a sneak peek of season 3.
Slinky: Oh please end with Seattle Day 1. That would be so funny.
RJ: *laughing*Ends with Seattle Day 1
RJ & Slinky: *cheering and laughing*Here is our critiques:
Well....that sucked. I mean....what can we even say? We were honestly losing our minds over this episode and not in a good way!
The pacing was really rushed, like it was flying over events that happened in Day3 of the game.
Ellie continues to be an ungrateful, dumbass brat.
Jesse being the best character (next to Tommy and Bigot Sandwich Man).
Really felt like it was a set up for Season 3.
Ellie getting caught by the Scars was completely and utterly pointless as it didn't lead to anything. Just a bump in the road that really hints at the events that are gonna happen in Season 3.
Plot armor was crazy good in this show.
I've also seen people being mad that Jesse was kinda of an asshole but it's kinda understandable why he acted that way. Honestly, I wanted Jesse in the game to kinda fight back a bit at what Ellie was doing. I mean it was like every character went along with Ellie in the game just to keep her happy. It's also realistic someone would fight back alittle when they think something is wrong with your plan.
He also just found out he is gonna be a dad and that they are in a city that is at war so yeah he's gonna be kind of a dick about it.
The flip flop with Ellie's character this season has been really jarring. Like one minute she's all happy and skipping around like a child, the next she gets angry and decides now she wants to be the Terminator.
Bella really should've been recasted. She just looked way too young to pull off the emotional range she needed for Ellie. I don't fully blame her I mostly blame writing and directing but she didn't really help with how blank faced she was through most of the scenes.
I've also find it kinda funny how viewers of the show are saying the exact same criticisms the gamers have said back in 2020.
And you want to know what's even worse about all this? Five years ago, I made a promise to myself that I would never play Last of Us pt 2 ever again. I had played it twice and sat through it again when my sister played it. After that I hadn't touched it since, that was around July of 2020.
But now, here in 2025...I'm gonna be heading back just compare and contrast between the game and the show. And once I'm done with the game, I'll be giving my 5 year later review of it. Slinky is also gonna join me with the game as being a viewer. Both of us are curious to see if our views have changed in the last five years.
So be ready for that!
